  • Patent number: 8255694
Abstract: A method, system, and apparatus for authenticating transactions and records is disclosed. An information-based indicium includes an article bearing a first identifier, wherein the first identifier substantially prevents a single user from accumulating multiple articles bearing the same first identifier, and a first digital certificate that is derived in part by encoding the first identifier, wherein the first digital certificate and the article may be presented together to authenticate the indicium by comparing the first digital certificate and the first identifier.

  • Patent number: 8253758
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for a bilinear filter system comprising a pre-formatter module, a bilinear module, an accumulator module, and a format module. The pre-formatter module is configured to receive texel data and convert it to a normalized fixed point format. The bilinear module is dynamically reconfigurable to perform an interpolation or an extended precision interpolation on the normalized fixed point texel data from the pre-formatter module and generate re-normalized floating point texel data. The interpolator analyzes the exponent range of fixed point texel data from the pre-formatter module to determine if an extended precision calculation is appropriate. The accumulator module is configured to accumulate floating point texel data from the bilinear module to achieve the desired level of bilinear, trilinear, and anisotropic filtering. The format module is configured to convert texel data from the accumulator module into a standard floating point representation.

  • Patent number: 8254432
Abstract: A receiver receives chip-level data items via a plurality of individual distinct path signals in a signal cluster that is wirelessly received. Channel estimates and timing reference signals, and lock indications of valid components values in the channel estimates are generated utilizing the received chip-level data items. Rake receiver fingers are assigned to the received individual distinct path signals based on the generated channel estimates and timing reference signals, and/or the lock indications. Each of the received chip-level data items corresponds to one of the assigned rake receiver fingers. At least a portion of the received chip-level data items may be combined utilizing the assigned rake receiver fingers. The generated one or more combined chip-level data items may be despreaded to generate corresponding symbol-level data.

  • Patent number: 8254306
Abstract: Certain aspects of the method may comprise generating at least one control signal that may be utilized to control at least a first of a plurality of received spatially multiplexed communication signals. An amplitude and/or phase of the first received spatially multiplexed communication signal may be adjusted via the generated control signal so that the amplitude and/or phase of the first received spatially multiplexed communication signal may be equivalent to an amplitude and/or phase of a second received spatially multiplexed communication signal. The amplitude of the first received spatially multiplexed communication signal is adjusted within the processing path used to process the first received spatially multiplexed communication signal.

  • Patent number: 8247230
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cell line derived from the cambium of an herbaceous plant having a storage root and a method for isolating the same. More specifically, relates to a cambium-derived homogeneous cell line having the ability to divide, which is obtained from the cambium-containing storage tissue of an herbaceous plant having a storage root without a separate dedifferentiation process, and to a method for isolating the same. The cell line derived from the cambium of an herbaceous plant having a storage root has active division ability and is homogeneous. Also, it is stable during culture, because it has not undergone a dedifferentiation process. Thus, through the optimization of proliferation thereof, the cell line can be allowed to proliferate in a large amount within a short time.

  • Patent number: 8249925
Abstract: Binary advertising markets are developed where personalized media such as digital and even analog advertising is delivered to and accessed by audience members enabling advertisers to buy advertising for broadcast to televisions, smartphones and other types of digital devices. The market is designed to provide participants a new way to have their orders entered, matched, executed, and settled, to manage and monitor risk characteristics of their content placement or advertising placement transactions, and any rights and positions that result from those transactions. Standardized units of exchange represented by profile access rights and display space access rights appropriately designed for their respective markets are used in both primary direct and secondary alternative markets. Processes are also implemented where an audience member receives economic benefit in exchange for confirming view of or rating an advertisement, or viewing advertisements while logged in.

  • Patent number: 8248735
Abstract: In a magnetic head suspension, a piezoelectric element is disposed within a supporting part's open section so that at least a part of its distal-side end surface faces a distal-side wall surface of the supporting part's distal end section forming a distal-side gap between the distal-side end surface and the distal-side wall surface and at least a part of its proximal-side end surface faces a proximal-side wall surface of the supporting part's proximal end section forming a proximal-side gap between the proximal-side end surface and the proximal-side wall surface in a state where the piezoelectric element's upper and lower electrode layers do not face the supporting part and any rigid members that are fixed to the supporting part. The piezoelectric element is fixed to the supporting part by a distal-side insulative adhesive agent and a proximal-side insulative adhesive agent.

  • Patent number: 8248730
Abstract: The magnetic head slider locking apparatus according to the present invention includes a fixed portion, a movable portion and paired right and left spring portions. Upon transition from an initial posture to an elastically deformed posture, the movable portion is wholly moved toward the proximal side in the suspension longitudinal direction and, at the same time, the inner end of each of paired proximal-side engagement regions in the suspension width direction is moved toward the inner side in the suspension width direction, so that the distal end and the proximal end of each of the proximal-side extending regions are moved toward the inner side and the outer side in the suspension width direction, respectively, while the proximal-side extending regions are wholly moved toward the proximal side in the suspension longitudinal direction.

  • Patent number: 8248636
Abstract: A container application is a native application that allows a web based application to access a computer's system resources and windowing system. Web based applications are downloaded from application servers and run inside container applications. A web based application can alter or control many, or all, aspects of the container application's content area and meta user interfaces (UIs). Access to printer settings, display settings, and printer meta UIs provides a web based application with the capability to lay out or format printed documents. The newly provided capabilities include WYSIWYG capabilities.
