  • Patent number: 4798518
Abstract: A fan unit is designed for installation in ducting systems or in similar casings in air conditioning and ventilation systems. The fan unit has a freely turning radial impeller without any spiral housing and has a driving motor for the impeller. Downstream from the outlet of the impeller, there is a guiding structure for redirecting the flow coming radially out of the impeller to an axial direction.

  • Patent number: 4793375
Abstract: A faucet valve cartridge for a dual handle faucet which facilitates conversion between a lever-operated faucet and a knob-operated faucet utilizing identical components. The cartridge may be used to control either the hot-water supply or the cold-water supply to the faucet spout. The cartridge includes an integrally formed stop member and housing within which is rotatably disposed a valving member. The housing includes a pair of outlet ports and is open to the bottom to receive the valving member and a pair of cooperating valving plates which control fluid flow. Orientation of the valving plates within the housing controls the specific configuration of the valve cartridge. Preferably the valving plates are made of a ceramic material to reduce wear and facilitate rotation.

  • Patent number: 4776607
Abstract: A coupler for a ball type hitch has a body member that includes a socket portion and a closure mechanism that is slidably mounted on the body member for movement between the open position, a closed position, and a third overshoot position. The closure mechanism includes a lower retaining plate and a latch plate which automatically latches when the closure mechanism achieves the closed position. A spring biases the closure mechanism from the open position to the closed position and third position. The closure mechanism is retained in the closed position when the coupler is engaged to a properly sized hitch ball. The closure mechanism is free to move to the third overshoot position when the coupler is engaged to an undersized ball. Visual indicators exit the coupler body member when the closure mechanism is in the open or third overshoot positions. The retainer plate includes a lock receiving aperture for receiving a lock that prevents unauthorized opening of the coupler.

  • Patent number: 4768424
Abstract: A roof ventilator with a motor driven radial impeller (1) preferably having a vertical axis (15). It further comprises a housing for the impeller (1) which is connectable to the roof (20) or to a suitable wall of the room to be ventilated. On the side adjacent to the roof (20) or the wall, there is an inlet (5) extending in the direction of the impeller axis (15). The housing, which is designed as a flow housing, further comprises an outlet consisting of two outlet ports (16, 17) which are located on opposite first side walls (12, 13) of the housing. These side walls (12, 13) may be completely or almost completely open. This outlet design has the effect of diverting the medium flow away from the surroundings of the drive motor.

  • Patent number: 4765404
Abstract: A packing assembly for a whipstock in which the whipstock can be run into a well casing to a level above the bottom and milling through the casing wall without having to make a round trip with the well string. The packing assembly includes slip-type anchors which initially set the assembly and packing elements which sealingly engage the well casing to seal off the casing while anchoring the device. Disposed between the packing elements is a spacer ring which is axially movable in response to the fluid pressure within the well casing to enhance the sealing engagement of the packing elements. The spacer ring includes an O-ring seal which provides improved sealing between the spacer ring and the inner mandrel to which it is mounted. In order to compress the packing elements while preventing extrusion thereof, an overleaf ring and retainer arrangement is provided thereby enhancing sealing engagement of the packing assembly.

  • Patent number: 4765365
Abstract: A faucet spring utilized to urge the faucet seal member into sealing contact with the rotatable valving member and prevent large debris, such as valve washer screws from previous faucet assemblies, from contacting the valving member under the fluid pressure. The coil spring has a substantially frusto-conical configuration with a smaller diameter upper end which engages the seal and urges it against the valving member. The larger diameter lower end of the spring engages an annular shoulder of the counterbored inlet passage of the valve assembly. The lower end of the spring also includes an obstruction member formed as an extension of the coil spring which extends into the opening of the spring's lower end to prevent large debris from traveling through the spring and seal. As a result, the faucet spring provides the added function of preventing potentially damaging debris from contacting the valving member.

  • Patent number: 4763565
Abstract: A ceiling air diffuser convertible between a flush-face diffuser with the louvers mounted substantially flush with the ceiling and a drop-down diffuser which provides a more efficient disperison of air flow. By providing this conversion capability, manufacturing and inventory costs are reduced by eliminating duplicity of components for each type of diffuser. The essential component of the drop-down diffuser is a stepped support bracket which is detachably connected to the peripheral frame of the diffuser and to which the directional vanes are mounted. Conversion is accomplished by simply interchanging the removable fin core within the frame member.

  • Patent number: 4754783
Abstract: A mixing valve for a faucet includes a faucet body with a chamber that receives a cartridge and a bore that receives a piston. The piston has passageways therethrough in communication with inlets of the body and also in communication to entrances in the cartridge. The piston has a passage leading to a chamber that is interposed between the piston and the body that is responsive to hydraulic pressure from one of the inlets to create a bias that presses against the cartridge and transfers compressive force to a moving valve plate and a fixed valve plate that are within the cartridge. Furthermore, a supplemental spring is interposed within the hydraulic chamber to give mechanical upward bias of the piston against the cartridge.
