Abstract: In one example, a resource reservation protocol is modified to allow a Modular Cable Modem Termination System (M-CMTS) core to use the protocol to reserve, for a flow, network resources as well as a Radio Frequency (RF) channel extending from the remote PHYsical interface (PHY). The modifications allow the M-CMTS core to identify parameters to be used by the edge device for selecting an available RF channel to be reserved for the flow, or to request a particular one of the RF channels. Intermediary devices operating on the DEPI can also reserve resources for the flow without being reconfigured according to the protocol modifications.
Abstract: An electronic message is accessed. The message comprises a number of headers and a signature comprising a digital signature and a version of the headers. The message is verified based on analysis of the version of the headers and the digital signature. The version of the headers is compared with the headers and a policy is applied based on results of the comparison to determine further processing of the electronic message.
Abstract: In one example, a Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) analyzes received service flow traffic to estimate Quality of Experience (QoE) at the endpoints. An admission control system on the CMTS uses the QoE estimate to determine whether to admit new service flows.
Abstract: A stabilizer system for an industrial vehicle includes one or more stabilizer cylinders mounted to the industrial vehicle, wherein the stabilizer cylinders are configured to contact the ground when deployed. The stabilizer system further includes a pressure sensor configured to determine a hydraulic system pressure, and a processor configured to calculate a stabilizing pressure to be applied to the one or more stabilizer cylinders. The stabilizing pressure is based on the hydraulic system pressure in order to improve a forward stability of the industrial vehicle when the one or more stabilizer cylinders are deployed.
Abstract: The invention relates generally to the field of wireless communications and more particularly to a method of and device for detecting the presence of a received data packet in a digital receiver. The present invention proposes a simplified method of correlation by removing dependency on the amplitude fluctuations while at the same time maintaining phase relevancy. The key advancement involves mapping the complex quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) preamble to a quantized phase shift keying (PSK) constellation before application to a matched complex correlator. The proposed process essentially “amplitude normalizes” the input signal without the use or complexity associated with a divider. This simplified normalization scheme makes the packet detection algorithm robust against amplitude variations in the input signal, while still allowing for good correlation output.

Abstract: An improved printer controller system includes bitmap buffers for storing bitmaps as uncompressed data and a buffer manager for managing an allocation of the bitmap buffers to the bitmaps. The buffer manager is configured to recap one of the bitmap buffers according to a bitmap identifier associated with a requested bitmap. A method for managing buffer allocation in a printer apparatus includes allocating one or more buffers to a bitmap, assigning a bitmap identifier to the one or more buffers, and printing the stored bitmap. The method further includes releasing the one or more buffers, receiving a request including the bitmap identifier, and reallocating the one or more buffers to the stored bitmap.
Abstract: A Fault Tolerant Dial Router (FTDR) includes redundant subsystem resources that operate independently of telephone line interface connections. The redundant resources are switched active when a failure is detected in an activated dial router subsystem. Switching out subsystem failures is fully automated under software control, providing uninterrupted service to users with limited performance loss. The FTDR includes a switching mechanism that selectively switches out the telephone interfaces or other subsystem resources inside the dial router box detected as having failures. The subsystem resources include line framers, controllers and modem modules.
Abstract: In one embodiment, an apparatus includes an access node, and the access node includes ports. The access node is operable to perform downlink switching based upon a unique Provider Virtual Local Area Network tag (S-TAG) and a unique IEEE 802.1Q tag header (C-TAG) that is assigned to each port.

Abstract: A holographic imaging system includes an electrical addressable spatial light modulator (EASLM) and an optically addressable spatial light modulator (OASLM). A read light is configured to illuminate the OASLM, and a controller is configured to address the EASLM with both positive and negative sub-images and transmit the positive and negative sub-images to the OASLM. The controller is further configured to address the OASLM with an operating voltage, wherein the read light generates a holographic image comprised of diffraction patterns from the positive and negative sub-images.
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and system for recommending locations keyed to a map database system and providing navigation instructions to the recommended locations to a driver of a vehicle by gathering actual statistics about the preferences of the user and/or by comparing the user to population data to create recommendations in accord with the preferences of the population.
Abstract: An M-CMTS compatible UEQAM device implements circuitry to identify and analyze MAP message in the data stream sent from the M-CMTS Core with respect to timing information embedded in those messages. The improved UEQAM will then create a specific message as an extension to DEPI to communicate that information to the M-CMTS Core. The M-CMTS Core will employ that analysis to automatically adjust MAP message advance time to reduce delay and thus improve system performance. This invention will provide a closed-loop between the M-CMTS Core and the UEQAM where valuable transmission information will periodically be fed back from UEQAM-to-M-CMTS Core in real-time.

Abstract: In one example, a Bluetooth enabled navigation device pairs with a mobile phone and then sends a plurality of tuning transmissions, each at a different transmission power gain amount, to a remote server using the mobile phone. These tuning transmissions are encoded using frequency tones that synthesize speech for transmission through the mobile phone and a voice channel of its wireless telecommunications network. The navigation device then tunes transmit power settings according to a received response to the tuning transmissions and uses the tuned transmit power settings for subsequent transmission to the remote server using this particular mobile phone.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a power detection circuit for use in a wireless transmitting device. The circuit makes use of multiple gain paths so that two or more scaling factors are provided. Each scaling factor allows the detector circuit to provide more ADC levels per dB and thus provide accurate power control over a wider power range than through the use of a single gain path and a single scaling factor.
Abstract: A model train and layout control system based on on-board sound and locomotive modules, new signaling methods, bi-directional communication, environmental sound, turnout control, train location methods, computer interaction and accessory control, by adding components to existing technology. AC power signal waveforms are variously altered to convey digital command words.
Abstract: A system is presented that applies M×N×K computational units to calculating image parameters on N picture images captured simultaneously by N digital camera devices, where there are N groups of frame grabber units, each containing M frame grabbers in which there are K computational units. The data operated on by a computational unit is separate and independent from the image data operated on by the other computational units. This results in a performance speedup of M×N×K compared to one computational unit making the same computations. A master frame grabber unit controls the illumination of the N digital camera devices, and synchronizes the illumination with the clocks of the N digital camera devices.
