  • Patent number: 5296035
Abstract: An apparatus for applying coating material to inner surfaces of cans includes a coating material spray gun and a cleaning material spray gun which are mounted in a side-by-side relationship on a manifold block. The coating material spray gun is connected in fluid communication with a coating material supply conduit through the manifold block. The cleaning material spray gun is connected in fluid communication with a cleaning material supply conduit through the manifold block. The cleaning material spray gun is operable to direct a flow of cleaning material toward a nozzle on the coating material spray gun to clean the nozzle. Three point mounting systems are utilized to accurately mount the spray guns on the manifold block. A heater is provided to maintain body of coating material in the coating material spray gun at a desired temperature.

  • Patent number: 5062468
Abstract: A mold structure includes an article mold having a mold cavity with a configuration corresponding to the configuration of the article to be cast. A starter section contains a starter cavity in which a plurality of crystals form. A crystal selector has a passage which extends between an upper end of the starter cavity and a lower end of the article mold cavity. To promote the growth in the crystal selector passage of a crystal having primary and secondary orientations corresponding to selected primary and secondary orientations of the article, the crystal selector passage has a portion which slopes downwardly in the direction of solidification of metal along the crystal selector passage. Without the use of a seed crystal, the cast article will have a secondary orientation axis which is almost always within plus or minus 30 degrees of a selected secondary orientation axis.

  • Patent number: 5027705
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for controlling fluid flow at a flow control location between first and second rollers. Each roller is rotatable about its longitudinal central axis. The two rollers are disposed adjacent to each other so as to form a flow control location or nip between the rollers. The nip has an entrance side and an exit side. As the rollers rotate, fluid from a fluid pan is carried on the outer surface of the first roller to the entrance side of the nip. Some of the fluid at the nip is transferred onto the outer surface of the second roller. As the rollers continue to rotate, the fluid flows out of the nip at the exit side of the nip. An excess fluid condition occurs at the nip when the amount of fluid flow to the entrance side of the nip exceeds the amount of fluid flow from the exit side of the nip. A brass collar is connected at one end of the first roller. Another brass collar is connected at the outer end of the first roller.
