Abstract: The invention concerns a method for the administration of a subscriber SIM card 3 inserted in the main smartcard reader of a mobile telephone of the type including a second smartcard reader, using an additional administrator smartcard temporarily inserted in this second reader. The administrator smartcard includes at least one specific loader (Ch) applet and one or more files (f1-fn) corresponding to the applets (A1-An) which can be loaded in the SIM card under the control of the loader (Ch). The administrator card complies with the Sim Toolkit standard. The method can also be used to carry out the deletion, modification and various operations on data or applets (A1-An) present in the SIM card: display, determination of the memory space, etc. The invention also concerns an embedded system, more particularly a smartcard, for the implementation of the method.

Abstract: A mobile device and UICC communication using standard Internet protocols. Such communication allows users access to their UICC information using standard web browsers and allows use of the UICCs to communicate with remote servers and thereby provide secure services for Internet transactions. The mobile device has a communications module to selectively communicate with the UICC processor or with at least one node on a network, the mobile device communications module has an Internet protocol module operable to receive messages issued from a first Internet application as Internet protocol packets, and to transmit the packets to target IP addresses; and operable to receive Internet protocol packets, to process the packets, and to send the messages contained in the packets to the first Internet application.

The invention is characterized in, that a first of the conductors (11) is comprised of a rod (12) including a substantially centrally located axial hole (2), said hole (2) forming an outer conductor (11) of a coaxial line, and that the second conductor (5) is comprised of a solid rod, and that a metallic wire (5) inserted centrally in the axial hole (2) of the first conductor (11) is connected to the second conductor (5).

Abstract: A knowledge-based system and method for establishing and managing routes for emergency vehicles. The knowledge-based system and method uses a knowledge base having information useful in establishing and managing routes for emergency vehicles including information on intersections, road segments connecting intersections, expected travel time along the road segments, and dynamic factors that influence traffic flow, and a database for storing routes designed using the information useful in establishing and managing routes. The knowledge-based system also consist of one or more software modules operable to retrieve information from the knowledge base and to perform operations such as designing routes between location involved in emergency response, selecting between such routes, and modifying such routes all using information in the knowledge base.

Abstract: A system and method for effecting secure transactions over a computer network in a manner designed to foil identity theft perpetrated from an untrusted computer. A connection from a client computer to the network wherein the client computer provides a user interface for a user, a connection from a server computer to the network, and a connection from a portable secure computing device to the network provides for secure transmission of private confidential user information from the user to a server. The private information is transmitted directly from the secure computing device to the server over the secure connection without possibility of capture on the computer with which the user is interacting.

Abstract: A smart card which includes a non-volatile read/write memory and a processor connected to the memory, and further configured to cause the processor to perform a method for enhancing data security and managing the contents of memory during periods when the computational power of the processor is underutilized. The method includes steps for determining if a command or character has been received, processing and/or responding to the command or character once received, implementing a security measure and/or managing memory, and performing a tamper protocol in response to detecting a security breach, all of which is performed while waiting to receive the next command or character.

Abstract: A method and device to control the access to a data memory space of a computer system by an active process stored in a program space of the system. When the active process attempts to perform an operation on a part of the data memory space the method or device controls the access to the part of the data memory space by comparing a dynamic attribute linked to the active process to an attribute linked to the part of the data memory space the process is attempting access. The value of the dynamic attribute is updated according to the present and previous status of the active process.

Abstract: A plurality of assemblies is manufactured. Each assembly comprises a sealing slice that is fixed to a base slice. The plurality of assemblies is manufactured in the following manner. In a preparation step, a stack is formed. The stack comprises a plurality of pre-assemblies. Each pre-assembly comprises a base slice, a sealing slice and a fixing layer provided between the base slice and the sealing slice. The stack further comprises at least one supple buffer layer. The supple buffer layer has a mechanical rigidity, which is substantially less than that of the base slices and that of the sealing slices. The supple buffer layer thus enables to compensate for variations in thickness of the base slices and of the sealing slices. In a fixing step, the stack is pressed which causes the sealing slice of each pre-assembly to be fixed to the base-slice of the pre-assembly.

Abstract: A sealing-object (4) is fixed to a base-object (10). The sealing-object comprises a through-hole (5). The objects are fixed to each other in the following manner. In a preparation step, a fixing layer (1, 2, 3) is provided between the base-object and the sealing-object. In addition an evacuation device (6) equipped with an evacuation channel (7) is placed onto the sealing-object. The through-hole of the sealing object has a first extremity opening out on the evacuation channel and a second extremity opening out on the fixing layer. In a fixing step, the fixing layer is heated which causes the fixing layer to release gas. The gas is at least partially evacuated via the through-hole of the sealing-object and the evacuation channel of the evacuation device.
