  • Patent number: 8246870
Abstract: A dental implant system includes an implant having a well and an abutment having a post shaped to be received in the tapered well. Both the implant and the abutment are made from a millable ceramic, and the abutment post and/or the implant well have grooves carved therein. In one embodiment, the implant and the abutment are joined one to the other with a retentive elastomeric product containing micro-bubbles and micro-spacers. The dental implant system may be produced using a computer-readable medium containing instructions for analyzing surface data and X-ray data, for developing contour data of the implant and of the abutment according to the anatomy of the patient, and for generating machine instruction for milling the implant and the abutment from blocks of the millable ceramic. The invention provides the dentist with total flexibility in determining the most appropriate contours of the implant system and in reducing inventory.

  • Patent number: 8210150
Abstract: A motor according to the invention includes a combustion chamber; a central rotor disposed within the combustion chamber; a shaft, which engages the rotor longitudinally and extends from the combustion chamber in opposite directions; and a proximal rotor and a distal rotor, which are coupled to the shaft in symmetrically opposite positions and have passages defined thereon to receive at least some of the exhaust gas exiting the combustion chamber and impart a vertical motion to that exhaust gas. After exiting the proximal and distal rotors, the exhaust gas is directed to an interspace between the shaft and a housing of the motor and forms pneumatic bearings between the shaft and the housing, which maintain the shaft in a frictionless suspended position during operation of the motor. In one embodiment, some of the exhaust gas energizes batteries disposed around the motor.

  • Patent number: 8181366
Abstract: A ski boot for ski mountaineering or telemark skiing including a shell of plastic material and a sole. A first longitudinal cut in the shell defines two sides which allow the entry of the foot of the skier. A second cut in the shell, transverse to, and opening into the first cut, is formed in the front section of the shell. The first and second cuts form a longitudinal slot in the shell; stops are located at opposite ends of the slot. In the preferred embodiment, a peg with an enlarged head is slit within the slot to adjust the flexibility of the boot in the longitudinal direction. In the alternative embodiment, a gaiter and a profiled element are located in the area of the first cut and the second cut in the shell. A peg with an enlarged head is slid with aligned slots in the shell, gaiter, and profiled element, to adjust the flexibility of the shell in the longitudinal direction.
