  • Patent number: 4713903
Abstract: Two types of choke assemblies are provided to enable a shotgun of specific gauge to be modified in the field to receive a shotgun shell of smaller gauge and also to provide a choke of desired characteristics to suit the needs of the shooter, as for skeet or trap shooting or hunting. Each choke assembly comprises an aluminum tube insertable into the breech end of the shotgun barrel and has integral external bosses to ensure a snug fit. The breech end of the tube is chambered to receive a shotgun shell and the muzzle end of the tube is internally threaded. In one type of choke assembly, a choke is screwed and glued in the threaded tube end at the factory and the entire assembly is installed in the shotgun in the field. Thus, with a plurality of tubes of the same gauge, each would have a different choke permanently attached.

  • Patent number: 4704069
Abstract: A method is disclosed for operating a large motor-driven refrigeration gas compressor which has independently movable suction and discharge slide valves to prevent undesirable, possibly damaging hydraulic pressure build-up caused by sealing oil remaining in the gas compression chambers during compressor start-up. While the compressor is started and brought up to full speed, the suction slide valve is disposed in fully unloaded position to fully open the gas suction port and the discharge slide valve is disposed in position to fully open the gas discharge port to enable excess oil in the gas compression chambers to exit freely through the compressor gas discharge port before oil pressure build-up can occur. When the compressor is at full speed, the suction slide valve is positioned to maintain a desired gas suction pressure and the discharge slide valve is positioned to equalize gas pressure between the gas compression chambers and the compressor gas discharge port.

  • Patent number: 4660384
Abstract: A refrigeration system, and a method for operating the system, having a two-stage compressor for supplying refrigerant to a cooling coil, and having a desuperheater unit disposed between the two compressor stages. This desuperheater unit includes a container having heat exchange fluid therein and a coil, disposed in the heat exchange fluid, through which the refrigerant passes. During normal operation of the refrigeration system, both compressors are running. The desuperheater unit between the two compressor stages reduces the temperature of the compressed refrigerant before it reaches the second stage. The temperature of the heat exchange fluid is correspondingly increased in the course of the heat exchange. Also during normal operation, frost accumulates on the cooling coil, which is removed by a control device initiating a defrost cycle. When the defrost cycle begins, the first stage compressor is turned off while the second stage compressor continues to run.
