Abstract: This invention relates to a process for applying water-soluble dye or water-dispersible pigment to stabilized bleach activator extrudates in a manner which avoids agglomeration and allows even coating of the bleach activator extrudates. This is accomplished by adding water-soluble hydratable material and the dye or pigment to an aqueous solution, and then distributing the aqueous solution on the bleach activator extrudates. The bleach activator extrudates comprise specific peroxygen bleach activators and select binder materials. This invention also relates to colored bleach activator extrudates made according to this process.
Abstract: An article which is an aqueous liquid laundry detergent comprising from about 10% to about 24% by weight of water and a substantially organic neutralization system which is contained in a package, preferably a pouch or packet containing a unit dose of said liquid laundry detergent, said package comprising a water-soluble film-forming material that dissolves when placed in the laundry wash water so as to release the liquid laundry detergent, said water-soluble film-forming material being in substantially direct contact with the liquid laundry detergent, said film-forming material maintaining its structural integrity prior to addition to the laundry wash water due to the critical level of water in the liquid laundry detergent and use in the liquid laundry detergent of a substantially organic neutralization system.
Abstract: A method is provided for spray-drying, large volumes of a detergent slurry in a spray-drying tower which includes spraying at least a portion of the slurry, cocurrently with air having a specified temperature and velocity range, through uniformly spaced atomizing nozzles into a cylindrically shaped drying zone. Any remaining balance of the slurry is sprayed countercurrently into the drying zone at higher levels in the spray tower.
Abstract: This method which involves reacting maleic anhydride and .alpha.-olefins in an autoclave at about 200.degree.-250.degree. C. gives particularly good results and produces alkenyl-succinic anhydrides which need not be purified by distillation when using, as the starting .alpha.-olefins, dodecene containing a substantial amount of tetradecene.

Abstract: Disclosed are liquid automatic dishwashing detergent compositions having an optimized thickening system. The thickening system is based on a polyacrylate polymer thickener and an alkali metal silica colloid having dispersed therein an alkali metal aluminate.
Abstract: Disclosed are liquid automatic dishwashing detergent compositions containing an insoluble inorganic zinc salt useful for inhibition of glassware corrosion in the dishwasher. These compositions are particularly desirable because use of them in the dishwasher does not result in precipitation of insolubles on the dishware or dishwasher parts.
Abstract: Disclosed are granular automatic dishwashing detergent compositions containing an insoluble inorganic zinc salt useful for inhibition of glassware corrosion in the dishwasher. These compositions are particularly desirable because use of them in the dishwasher does not result in precipitation of zinc insolubles on the dishware or dishwasher parts.
Abstract: Process for improving storage stability of amidoperoxyacid, comprising containing said amidoperoxyacid with a phosphate buffer solution at a pH between about 3.5 and 6 after synthesis of the amidoperoxyacid.
Abstract: Disclosed are rinse additive compositions containing an insoluble inorganic zinc salt useful for inhibition of glassware corrosion caused by automatic dishwashing detergents in the dishwasher. These compositions are particularly desirable because use of them in the dishwasher does not result in precipitation of zinc insolubles on the dishware or dishwasher parts.

Abstract: A solidified fat in the form of flakes for use in making piecrust dough has a solids content index profile within the range defined in FIG. 3. The fat comprises triglycerides of saturated and unsaturated monocarboxylic acids having from 10 to 20 carbon atoms. Such flakes of fat may be used in making a pastry composition comprising pastry making flour, premeasured amount of the flakes and a sufficient amount of a liquid fat for coating at least portions of the flakes to promote adherence of flour to the flakes in making a pastry dough.
Abstract: Detergent compositions which comprise from about 0.05 to about 95% by weight of a water-soluble ethoxylated amine having clay soil removal/anti-redeposition properties. These compounds are selected from ethoxylated monoamines, ethoxylated diamines, ethoxylated polyamines, ethoxylated amine polymers and mixtures thereof. In addition to the ethoxylated amines, the detergent compositions further comprise from about 1 to about 75% by weight of a nonionic, anionic, ampholytic, zwitterionic or cationic detergent surfactant, or mixture thereof. In addition to these detergent surfactants, the detergent composition can optionally comprise from 0 to about 80% by weight of a detergent builder.
Abstract: A carrier bag of heat-sealable plastic film has a front panel joined along side edges by weld lines to a rear panel. The top ends of the panels are joined by an inwardly foldable gusset which is integral in one piece with the panels. The gusset is joined at the ends to the weld lines such that when the bag is in expanded position, the gusset opens to form a top panel of the bag with inner triangular gussets at the ends thereof lying adjacent double-layer triangular film portions joined through the apexes thereof by the weld lines. A cut-out handle for the bag is formed in one of these double-layer triangular portions. The handle may be further reinforced by joining the two film layers of the double-layer portion by means of a V-shaped weld line having the apex on a side edge weld line and extending upwardly on each side of the cut-out handle.
Abstract: Thickened aqueous automatic dishwashing detergent compositions containing optional bleach-stable surfactant, detergency builder, hypochlorite bleach (to yield available chlorine), a thickening agent and metal salts of long chain hydroxy fatty acids. The compositions have a yield value between 50 and 350 dynes/cm.sup.2 and inhibit tarnishing of sterling and silver-plated flatware.
Abstract: Bleach activator, bleach and detergent compositions comprising:(a) a peroxyacid bleach precursor having the general formula IAc--L Iwherein Ac is the acyl moiety of an organic carboxylic acid comprising an optionally substituted, linear or branched C.sub.6 -C.sub.20 alkyl or alkenyl moiety or a C.sub.6 -C.sub.20 alkyl-substituted aryl moiety and L is a leaving group, the conjugate acid of which has a pKa in the range from 4 to 13, and(b) an antioxidant. The compositions combine excellent stability, substrate-safety, water-dispersibility, granulometry and detergency performance.

Abstract: This invention relates to bleaching compounds and compositions that provide effective and efficient surface bleaching of textiles over a wide range of bleach solution temperatures. The bleaching compounds of the invention yield a peroxyacid with a polar amide link in the hydrophobic chain when used in the bleaching compositions. In a preferred embodiment, the bleaching compositions of the invention are also detergent compositions.
Abstract: Heavy duty liquid laundry detergent compositions which clean, soften and provide static control, and which comprise: (1) sulfated (optionally ethoxylated) alcohol anionic surfactant, (2) ion pair complex, (3) cumene, xylene, or toluene sulfonate, (4) smectite-type clay, and (5) ethoxylated nonionic surfactant. The compositions are in the form of stable, homogeneous suspensions which have a low viscosity, a near-neutral pH, and a specified yield value. Such compositions impart fabric care benefits through-the-wash without significantly impairing cleaning performance.
Abstract: Granular detergent compositions contain a low level of ammonium salt or salt of specific anion chlorine scavenger which is preferably protected in a particle. Such salts protect enzymes in the wash process. The preferred particles can also comprise, e.g., a suds-controlling silicone material which is substantially removed from contact with the surfactant component or alkaline component of the composition. The particles preferably use, e.g., a polyethylene glycol carrier, with preferably a small amount of fatty acid, in an irregularly shaped particle having a minimum dimension of at least about 0.05 cm.
