Abstract: The invention utilizes local search engines to view a display of local business listings in order of relevance to the user. Relevance to the user depends on a variety of factors whose importance varies by user and business—these factors include distance from user-defined starting location, business size, whether or not the business is local, content provided with listing, and relevance based on user-defined search terms. The system collects and parses business information from Web pages and other sources, stores the information in a format that facilitates searches, provides a simple way for users to initiate searches, analyzes all the factors mentioned above each time a search is performed, retrieves listings in order of factor importance, and displays results to the user in order and formatted to make further inspection and use of the results easy for the user.
Abstract: An algorithmic method for generating a medical utilization profile for a patient to facilitate decision making in the medical risk analyses, wherein the algorithmic method is comprised of four key components: (1) key independent variables recognized including medical data sources; (2) an ontology based process to organize these variables; (3) rules (probability distributions etc.) that can be used to draw correlative information from the given data and its ontological organization; and (4) usage of reasoning engine to process the gathered information and draw inferences.
Abstract: An improved equipment backpack which incorporates two novel and unique features. The first feature is a unique system for holding a tripod in place so that it can be carried on the backpack. The second feature is the incorporation of wing accessory pockets on the exterior of the backpack which retain objects in a visible, organized and readily accessible manner so that easy access to the objects can be achieved without the necessity of opening the entire backpack.
Abstract: The present invention is an attachable rolling plate assembly which can be attached as a single unit to a portable cutting tool to facilitate the safe rolling movement of the portable cutting tool on the workpiece. The invention comprises a frame assembly formed from a single piece of molded material such as fiber enriched plastic having a pair of oppositely disposed longitudinal sidewalls with stabilizer fins extending therefrom, and a flat base portion having a pair of parallel stabilizer tubes molded therein. The invention further includes an adjustable bevel gear assembly by which the angle of orientation of the cutting blade can be quickly changed. The invention also includes a cutting guide assembly to facilitate a straight cut, reduce torsional rotation of the saw blade and reduce kickback of the saw.
Abstract: A monolithic substrate of materials containing within it multiple opened channels of one dimensional macropore have a mesoporous inner surface and a method for making the same, wherein each of the opened channels is isolated from each other. The isolated channels of the one dimensional pore are aligned with and continuously extend through the entire substrate which contains various mesopores in three dimensions. The macropore has preferred pore sizes ranging from about 0.1 micrometers to about 20 micrometers, and the mesopore has a preferred pore size which is less than 500 angstrom.
Abstract: A combination exercise device including a combination elliptical trainer and abdominal swivelling exercise machine, a combination skating simulation exercise machine and abdominal swivelling exercise machine, an exercise bicycle combined with an abdominal swivelling exercise machine and a recumbent exercise bicycle combined with an abdominal swivelling exercise machine.
Abstract: An inflatable container formed in the shape of a cake and designed to resemble a cake, with a door on one side through which a gift is placed inside the container. A preferred embodiment of the container is in a generally rectangular shape with additional inflatable elements that give the container an overall general appearance of a birthday cake, with ‘candles’ and ‘icing’ that inflate with the inflation of the container. The container is preferably opaque so that the gift inside cannot be seen until opened.
Abstract: An improved deck mop to retain yarn comprising an elongated rod having an upper section and a lower section. An exterior rotatable sleeve threadedly surrounds the lower section which includes an interior movable piston which is further connected to a stationary spring. The lower section at its bottom end is connected to a first and second rotatable and removable clamp member comprising a respective bottom brush and bottom scrubber for cleaning. The mop through a respective clockwise and counter-clockwise rotation of the sleeve controls a respective closing and opening movement of two clamp members to thereby respectively hold or release a mop yarn, wherein the closing movement further results in contracting the spring so that the reduced spring stores a compression force having sufficient power to enable it to push the clamp members rotatably apart when the sleeve is rotated in the counter-clockwise direction.
Abstract: A horizontal and vertical shock responsive fluid valve assembly which are capable of automatically closing a fluid valve in response to earthquake forces or other shock forces of a predetermined magnitude. The assemblies are comprised of a respective horizontal and vertical shock and vibration force triggering mechanism working in a similar fashion. The mechanism has a respective cradle comprising a generally concave transverse surface that holds a movable ball and when it is energized by the forces can rotate 360 degrees in any direction and rolls out of the surface such that the ball ricochets off a housing cover covering the cradle and activates the mechanism only when the external forces reach a predetermined magnitude.
