Patent number: 5152024Abstract: A kinetic therapeutic table 10 having a frame 12, a planar patient support 14 mounted to the frame 12 for rotation about an elongate axis substantially aligned therewith and adjustable vertically at its foot 20 and head 18 ends. Symmetrical lateral support packs 114 at opposite sides of the patient's torso have laterally offset mountings for adjustment of the width therebetween by reversing their locations. Outer lateral leg supports 110 are mounted to the frame 12 and have a track 184 at their top surface for slideable mounting of both knee restraints 182 and foot supports 202 at selected positions therealong. The patient support 14 comprises a planar frame with a plurality of panels 88 removably mounted thereto by means of pins 96 actuated by a lever arm 100. A patient support 14 drive motor 28 provides rotary drive to the patient support 14 through a worm gear 40 locked to a gear linkage, so that it may be stopped and held by the worm gear 40 in any angular position by switching power off to the motor 28.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 1989Date of Patent: October 6, 1992Assignee: Thomas J. A patient support 14 drive motor 28 provides rotary drive to the patient support 14 through a worm gear 40 locked to a gear linkage, so that it may be stopped and held by the worm gear 40 in any angular position by switching power off to the motor 28. The worm gear 40 is manually disengageable from the remainder of the gear linkage to enable manual movement of the patient support 14 to a horizontal position. A locking pin 76 is automatically biased against a drive ring 22 and springs into a pin hole 78 therein when the horizontal position is reached. The patient support 14 is mounted at one end of its pivot axis to the frame 12 by a ball 19 and socket 21 connection.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 1988Date of Patent: July 31, 1990Assignee: Thomas J. Patent number: 4787661Abstract: An adjustable double handled shovel in which both handles are composed of grooved, telescopically mated sections for independent relative length adjustment and which are releasibly interconnected by a cross bar that both strengthens the handle assembly and permits adjustment of the relative angle between the two handles. Fasteners received with the grooves secure the mated sections together at the selected length. Adjustable handle grips are also releasibly secured to the ends of both handles by means of telescopic connectors and groove with fasteners for relative rotary movement relative to the handles. The blade portion of the shovel has a sharpened notched portion which engages and cuts obstructions while digging.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1987Date of Patent: November 29, 1988Assignee: Work Made Easy, Inc.Inventor: Thomas G. Patent number: 4769584Abstract: An electronic controller for a therapeutic table with a shaft encoder for sensing the angular position of a movably mounted patient support and means for controlling the movement in accordance with a comparison between the sensed angular position and an angular limit reference. The left and right preselected tilt angles are alternately automatically selected as the reference. Fault conditions, such as a jam condition, occurs when the drive mechanism to briefly reverse to automatically correct the condition prior to power termination. In the event of excessive tilt, actuation of limit switches results in reversal and movement of the patient support to a horizontal position before power termination. The jam condition is sensed by a strain gauge for detecting the work required for movement of the patient support and comparing it to a preselected work reference. In the event of drive clutch disengagement, power to the motor is terminated.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1985Date of Patent: September 6, 1988Assignee: Thomas J. RingInventors: Mario J. Patent number: 4742437Abstract: A water bed illuminator in which the bed includes a rectangular box-like base having a longitudinally extending central support wall spaced equidistantly from each opposite side wall, and three laterally extending support walls spaced apart equidistantly between each opposite end wall, to form six separate compartments. A light fixture is placed in the center of each compartment, connected to an electric power source by an insulated conductor, with an electric switch connected therein to turn the lights on and off. A mattress box is positioned on the base, having a floor in which six holes are cut at locations which are in registration with respective ones of the light fixtures. The waterbed mattress comprises a transparent or translucent water tight rectangular container which forms a mattress when filled with water. When placed in the mattress box and the light fixtures are turned on, the mattress becomes illuminated.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 1985Date of Patent: May 3, 1988Inventor: Rick Downey
