Abstract: New etch barriers of indium-tin-oxide in the manufacturing process of thin film transistor-liquid crystal display are self-assembled monolayers, such as n-alkylsilanes. A typical process of applying a self-assembled monolayer is to ink a hydrolyzed n-octadecyltrimethoxysilane solution on to a stamp and then to transfer the solution onto ITO. The surface of the stamp may be polar enough to be wet with polar self-assembled monolayer solutions of an akylsilane. A non-polar stamp surface may be treated with oxygen plasma to obtain a wettable polar surface.

Abstract: Apparatus for heating a fiber using microwave energy. The apparatus has a source of microwave energy feeding and applicator. The applicator is configured to concentrate the microwave energy on a chamber holding a fiber. Fibers made or coated using chemical vapor deposition in the apparatus are also disclosed.

Abstract: Process for producing novel coated nickel and/or cobalt superalloy bodies having increased resistance to oxidation, corrosion and thermal fatigue at high temperatures. The process comprises applying a thin layer of a platinum-group metal, siliciding and heating to an elevated temperature to diffuse and integrate the silicided platinum-group metal into the surface of the superalloy body. Then the superalloy body is exposed to a diffusion powder composition containing sources of aluminum or aluminum/chromium metals and heated in a hydrogen or inert gas atmosphere to an elevated temperature to codeposit and diffuse aluminum or aluminum and chromium into the silicided platinum-group metal-treated surface. Finally, the superalloy body is heated to its solvus temperature to form a ductile surface having an outer zone comprising a platinum-group metal aluminide, optionally ductilized by the solutioning therein of beta chromium.

Abstract: Hectograph master webs and sheets formulated to provide sharper, more-complete transfer under reduced imaging pressures, and sharper, more-numerous duplicate copies in the hectograph duplicating process and resistance to adhesion and coating-transfer under the pressures exerted by a hectograph duplicating machine. The receptive surface formed on the master sheet comprises a hard, pressure-adhesive coating consisting by weight essentially of 45 to 65 percent paraffinic wax, 5 to 20 percent hard wax and 15 to 40 percent polybutene polymer having a Staudinger molecular weight of from 10,400 to 12,300 which bonds to the hectograph transfer layer under relatively low, localized imaging pressure but which is sufficiently hard to resist adhesion, sticking and pick-over to hectograph copy sheets during the hectograph copying processes. The receptive coating also provides a barrier against the migration of the hectograph composition and/or of the spirit duplicating fluid into the master sheet.

Abstract: A package for containing, dispensing and employing a plurality of conventional prep swab ampules comprising liquid-containing breakable glass capsules within protective plastic sheaths or vials capped with swab tips. The package comprises a multi-ampule closed compartment for holding and dispensing a plurality of ampules as required, and a flexible, open-ended sleeve associated therewith. The sleeve is designed to receive and frictionally-engage each dispensed ampule, to permit the breaking of the inner vial while further protecting the fingers and, if desired, to permit the use of the broken ampule for its intended purpose while it remains frictionally-engaged within the sleeve on the package.

Abstract: A multiple-use pressure-sensitive transfer recording media which comprises a foundation and a finely porous resinous layer provided on the foundation, said porous layer comprising minute porous particles and a resinous binder material for bonding the porous particles to each other and containing a liquid ink paste substantially incompatible with the resinous binder material, said liquid ink paste comprising a pigment, a liquid fatty acid and an oil-soluble dye dissolved in said liquid fatty acid, and the weight ratio of said fatty acid to said dye being from 20:1 to 2:1. The recording media gives clear and sharp images without unevenness and blur for a multiplicity of strikes.

Abstract: An elongate apparatus for forming a plurality of plastic bags or pouches from a continuous length of thermoplastic film, in which the moving film is folded to form a double thickness which is open inwardly from one edge, and is folded inwardly from said one edge to form a flap ply which is treated at a plurality of aligned workstations to form physical bag features, such as to form spaced hanger-receiving slits, insert spaced hangers, form a longitudinal hanger-confining heat seam, fold out the flap ply, apply spaced adhesive closures, form V-cuts in the flap ply and fold back the flap ply to overlie the double ply prior to forming heat-seal transverse cuts which segregate the web into a plurality of plastic bags or pouches.

Abstract: A swivel bellows assembly designed to be mounted within a valve housing to provide self-alignment with a valve opening. The bellows assembly comprises a mounting element having a central opening surrounded by a depending, contoured skirt, or wall, a bellows unit having a central contoured well which receives said skirt or wall, and a retainer disc or cup which confines said skirt or wall within said well to permit relative angular adjustment of the bellows unit.

Abstract: Digital code-controlled ignition and security system for a vehicle, including an alcohol-detector device for preventing ignition in presence of predetermined alcohol content in the breath of the operator. Apparatus includes digital module which is programmable to desired first ignition mode code and second security mode code. Ignition coil/distributor and starter solenoid/motor are deenergized in absence of proper ignition code, and starter solenoid/motor remains deenergized in absence of alcohol-detector approval. Alarm system is armed by security code, activated by any one of a plurality of detectors and cannot be deactivated until another code is entered into digital module. Remote transmitter/receiver is provided to activate alarm for testing or vehicle-location purposes, and to receive signal at remote location when alarm has been activated.

Abstract: A spool for a reversible-type correction tape assembly, in which an improved fastening means is provided between the cap and the spool shaft. The spool shaft is designed to hold a ribbon-winding core so that the winding core is slideable in an axial direction of the spool shaft but is not rotatable relative to the shaft. The cap is detachably mounted on the top portion of the spool shaft so that the winding core does not slip off of the spool shaft. The spool shaft is provided with a male thread on a peripheral portion which is an extension above the winding core when the latter is engaged on the spool shaft.

Abstract: 1,4-dihydropyridines of the formula I ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 denotes optionally substituted phenyl, pyridyl or thienyl, R.sup.2 denotes optionally substituted oxadiazolyl, thiadiazolyl or thiazolyl and R.sup.3 denotes hydrogen or --COOH, their preparation by a modified Hantzsch synthesis and their use as a calcium-agonist in pharmacy.

Abstract: A universal holder for the convenient and safe storage of leadered fishing lures of different types during periods of nonuse. The holder comprises an elongate, narrow, rigid, water-resistant body having opposed ends, each containing a longitudinal recess and at least one end containing at least one bore adjacent one of the recesses, the elongate body also containing an engagement means for the end of the leader. A fishing lure is mounted thereon by inserting the hook(s) thereof into the bore(s) and winding the leader longitudinally around the elongate body and into the opposed recesses sufficiently tightly to prevent the hook from withdrawal from the bore, and securing the end of the leader to the engagement means on the elongate body. The elongate body preferably contains a longitudinal slot for receiving and holding the plurality of hooks of a multi-hook lure, and one or more pairs of opposed slots for the winding of leaders of different types.

Abstract: Tetrahydropyridazinones of the formula I ##STR1## wherein R denotes an optionally substituted carbocyclic or heterocyclic radical, R.sup.1 denotes hydrogen; alkyl; aralkyl, which is optionally substituted in the aryl part; or acyl, and R.sup.2 denotes hydrogen; alkyl, which can optionally be substituted; or optionally substituted phenyl; and their acid addition compounds, if these can be prepared.The tetrahydropyridazinone derivatives of the formula I according to the invention and their physiologically acceptable salts exhibit useful pharmacological actions.

Abstract: A spool for a reversible-type correction tape assembly comprising a cap and a spool shaft and improved releasable fastening means therebetween. The spool shaft is adapted to receive a correction ribbon-winding core axially-slideable, but not rotatable around the axis thereof. The spool shaft comprises a sleeve having a top cap-receiving section which has an outer cap-engaging surface which receives a cap detachably mounted thereon so that the winding core does not slip off of the spool shaft. The cap has a depending wall having an inner shaft-engaging surface for engaging the cap-engaging surface of the spool shaft. The engaging surface of the cap or of the spool shaft is provided with a projection extending in a radial direction, and the other engaging surface is provided with a recess or hole capable of receiving the projection.

Abstract: A lift-off tape capable of being used many times which comprises a foundation and an adhesive layer provided on one major surface of the foundation, said adhesive layer containing a plasticizer capable of plasticizing a polyamide resin which is a main component of the vehicle of a correctable ink. The lift-off tape can be used many times to remove erroneous typed impressions of a correctable ink which contains a polyamide resin as a main component of the vehicle thereof.

Abstract: A reusable heat-sensitive transfer recording element which comprises a foundation and an ink-containing layer provided on the foundation, said ink-containing layer comprising porous particles impregnated with a heat-meltable ink and a binder material for bonding the particles to each other, said binder material being substantially incompatible with the heat-meltable ink. With the present transfer elements, printed images having a high optical density can be obtained from the initial use thereof and printed images having such high optical density can be obtained at every repeated use.

Abstract: An assembly comprising a line member and an extension member for remotely attaching and detaching a line, such as a boat-mooring rope, to an eye member, such as an eye bolt on a mooring buoy. The line member includes a fastener comprising a carabiner or oblong ring having a gate section which is biased to closed position to prevent separation from an engaged eye member. The extension member comprises a rigid, elongate handle and a line-following surround means designed to be guided from a distance, down over the line and around the carabiner to depress the gate section and permit the carabiner and line to be attached to and detached from an eye member.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of 2-amino-s-triazines in three stages. In the first stage nitriles, alcohols and hydrogen chloride are reacted to form the corresponding imido-ester hydrochlorides. In the second stage, the imido-ester hydrochlorides are reacted with cyanamide in the aqueous phase to form the N-cyanimido-esters, which comprises carrying out the first stage in the presence of acetic acid esters and the second stage in an aqueous solution which has been brought to a pH value of 5-8 by addition of bases, and reacting the N-cyanimido-esters with O-alkylisourea, S-alkylisothiourea, guanidine or amidine salts in the presence of a base in the third stage. The 2-amino-s-triazines can be prepared in a high purity and with good yields in this manner.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for manufacturing guanylurea sulfamate, whereby dicyandiamide and sulfaminic acid are reacted in an aqueous or organic-aqueous medium at a temperature within the range 70.degree. C.-105.degree. C. Guanylurea sulfamate is obtained in very good yield and high purity by this process.

Abstract: The invention relates to a nitrogen fertilizer having a long-term action based on urea-formaldehyde condensation products suspended in water. The fertilizer contains dicyandiamide in an amount of from 5 to 35% by weight of dicyandiamide-nitrogen, based on the nitrogen content of the urea, and from 0.001 to 0.5% by weight of polymers of vinyl alcohol or polymers of aldehyde-carboxylic acids, based on the weight of the suspension.
