Patent number: 4487582Abstract: Soluble abrasive cleaning powder fed from a fluid-tight chamber and entrained in a stream of air is directed against a tooth surface to be cleaned from a manually controlled handpiece. The handpiece includes an improved air supply and control system having a first conduit for supplying air under pressure to the handpiece, a second conduit connected to the first for supplying air under pressure into the bottom portion of the fluid-tight chamber for entraining cleaning powder to be discharged through an outlet opening in the fluid-tight chamber and a third conduit connected to the first and to the fluid-tight chamber for directing a flow of air into the chamber at a point above the level of the cleaning powder in the chamber. A flow restricter and air filter are connected in the third conduit with the air filter being located in the fluid-tight chamber for filtering air flowing into and out of the system through the third conduit.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 1983Date of Patent: December 11, 1984Assignee: Cooper LaserSonics, Inc.Inventor: George E. Patent number: 4409205Abstract: An ophthalmic aqueous solution having an ionic salt ion content within the range 0.01% to 7.5% expressed as sodium chloride equivalents and comprising a non-ionic synthetic polymer such as polyvinyl alcohol and/or polyethylene glycol, and a non-ionic tonicity adjusting agent. The solution is effective in treating "dry eye" conditions by causing a normalization of irregularly structured tears and at least retarding the precipitation of potein-like substances from the aqueous layers thereof.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 1981Date of Patent: October 11, 1983Assignee: Cooper Laboratories, Inc.Inventor: Charles D. Patent number: 4370133Abstract: Disclosed herein is an improved tray for use in producing a denture either in-situ or by use of a model of the patient's mouth. The tray comprises a basic tray of disposable material approximating the shape of either the palate or the lower gums and having inner and outer wall portions integral therewith and forming a trough defining a gum receiving portion with a U-shape opening in the trough mounting, means for mounting a plurality of artificial teeth approximating the teeth found in either the upper or lower portion of the mouth, the mounting means having a flange portion made of dental acrylic which rests on the sides of the trough adjacent the U-shaped opening with the plurality of the teeth extending through the opening.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 1974Date of Patent: January 25, 1983Assignee: Cavitron CorporationInventor: John A. Patent number: 4348207Abstract: A diagnostic means and method of testing for pregnancy in humans and a test kit incorporating such diagnostic means and ancillary materials. A sample of a patient's first morning urine is added to a test tube containing a known lyophilized reagent. The tube is capped, shaken to mix the contents, and placed upright for one to two hours. The tube is then inverted and compared with positive and negative standard vials to show either agglutination of particles, such as red blood cells, contained therein, in which case the subject is not pregnant, or a failure to agglutinate, in which event the patient is pregnant. The test tube is of sufficient dimension to support capillary action and is formed from, or has its interior surface coated with, a material which is non-wettable to the liquid contained therein.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 1981Date of Patent: September 7, 1982Assignee: Cooper Laboratories, Inc.Inventor: Leona R. Patent number: 4344262Abstract: A building construction comprising spaced parallel structural members, such as rolled steel beams and girders, forming a plurality of horizontally disposed structural bays in which the compression flanges of the girders are restrained against lateral displacement or buckling under compressive loads by concrete joists having notched end portions, especially during construction and prior to hardening of concrete poured thereover to form floor slabs. The joists are supported by, and extend transversely between, the girders. Adjacent end portions of the joists are connected to each other to form continuous lines of tension or compression ties at selected intervals along the girders. In a preferred embodiment, the continuous ties terminate at horizontal trusses formed at the end of a row of bays by at least one diagonally disposed truss member, such as a cable.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1976Date of Patent: August 17, 1982Inventors: Herbert M. Patent number: 4344037Abstract: A system and method analyzes tonosignals and other electrical signals such as those representative of force-displacement information from applanating probes initially to determine the presence of an acceptable waveform or tonosignal. Once an acceptable waveform is found, that waveform is analyzed further to locate the point of applanation. The level of the waveform at that point may be converted to a digital signal and displayed to indicate the pressure within the eye or other objects to which the probe is applied.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 1979Date of Patent: August 10, 1982Assignee: Cavitron CorporationInventor: Charles W.
