Patent number: 4969618Abstract: A container holder is disclosed which includes a base member and plural foam members. The base member has a central hub portion from which a plurality of spaced apart leg portions extend generally outwardly each in a different directions. A plurality of upright portions also extend from the hub but in a generally upwardly direction from locations between adjacent leg portions. A foam member is attached to an inward face of each of the upright poritons in a manner such that outer ends of said leg portions are positioned to rest aganist a generally flat surface, such as the floor of a van or truck, to provide a stable support and the foam members are positioned and spaced to receive and support a wide range of container sizes and shapes.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 1988Date of Patent: November 13, 1990Inventor: Steve Thompson

Patent number: 4925605Abstract: A unitary removable and reuseable jacket for the thermal insulation of pipe accounterments. The fully-formed generally-rectangular jacket is composed of three layers: a heat and water resistant outer fabric layer, a hardened rigid-cell polyurethane middle layer, and a thin flexible heat-shrinkable plastic inner layer. The inner and outer layers are joined together by perimeter seams and a transverse center seam which form two pockets adapted to contain the polyurethane foam middle layer. The inner and outer layers are formed at time of manufacture while the middle layer is formed during the application process. During the application process, an exothermic chemical reaction is generated by the combination of the chemicals polyol and isocyanate which are inserted between the inner and outer layers through holes contained in the outer layer, to form a rapidly expanding and hardening rigid cell polyurethane foam middle layer.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 1989Date of Patent: May 15, 1990Assignee: Field Foam IncorporatedInventor: Dennis A. Patent number: 4884922Abstract: In a simple method of filling a wide crack in an exposed surface of an artificial or natural structures, a rigid plate is positioned on the surface, which plate has on the surface of the plate nearer the surface of the structure three enclosures each bounded by an upstanding wall of compressible material. Two of the enclosures (vacuum enclosures) each has an outlet port passing through the plate and one of the enclosures (the injection enclosure) positioned between the vacuum enclosures has two injection nipples passing through the plate. The plate is so positioned on the surface of the structure that the injection enclosure overlies the crack. Air is evacuated through the outlet ports from the vacuum enclosures to cause the rigid plate to be sucked tightly against the surface of the structure and hardenable material in a semi-liquid state is pressure injected through the injection nipples into the injection enclosure until the crack is filled.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 1987Date of Patent: December 5, 1989Assignee: Balfour Beatty LimitedInventor: Ikram Haq

Patent number: 4859072Abstract: A device for the continuous production of a liquid mixture of solids and liquids has a rotation-symmetric space with approximately vertical rotation axis for the formation of a rotational flow. In order to obtain a simple, but reliably operating mixing device that furnishes a predictable mixing result, even if a very intense or considerably weaker stream is to be periodically present, it is proposed to design the rotation-symmetric space as an annular space (13) with an internal overflow edge (14) and to provide a funnel-shaped collecting basin (18) under the overflow edge (14) and to provide the discharge openings of the dosing devices (52, 53) for the substances to be mixed above the overflow edge (14). The liquid mixture is to selectively pass to a mixing vessel (28) or directly to a discharge pump (27) at the outlet of the collecting basin (18).Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1988Date of Patent: August 22, 1989Assignee: Matra-Werke GmbHInventors: Hans Fey, Manfred Czapiewski

Patent number: 4846566Abstract: An optical fibre element for use in an optical cable comprises a flexbile elongate member having within and partially bounded by the elongate member throughout its length an elongate compartment; at least one optical fibre loosely housed in the elongate compartment; and means for retaining the optical fibre within the elongate compartment. The elongate member is resiliently set in such a form that the central longitudinal axis of the member follows a longitudinally extending path which, between any two longitudinally spaced positions, is greater in length than the rectilinear distance between the two positions. When the resiliently set elongate member is subjected to a longitudinally applied tensile force, the elongate member will tend to straighten in a lengthwise direction against the action of its resilient set, thereby to reduce the tensile force applied to the optical fibre. When the tensile force is removed, the elongate member will return under the action of its resilient set towards its original form.Type: GrantFiled: February 26, 1987Date of Patent: July 11, 1989Assignee: BICC Public Limited CompanyInventors: Malcolm D. Patent number: 4825752Abstract: An impact relief valve and apparatus is disclosed which includes a hydraulic pump connected by two feed lines to a hydraulic cylinder. A first feed line provides fluid below a piston of the cylinder and the second feed line provides fluid above the piston providing a means to cause reciprocal motion of the piston within a cylinder housing. The piston is provided with at least one impact relief valve adapted to be opened upon impact of the piston with the housing at the top of the stroke of the piston whereby when fluid from the first feed line pushes the piston to the top of its stroke, the impact valve or valves are caused to open allowing any additional fluid pressure from the first line to pass through the second feed line to a suction side of the pump thereby reducing power requirements for the pump. An annular ridge on the cylinder head opens the impact relief valves.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 1987Date of Patent: May 2, 1989Assignee: Commercial Shearing, Inc.Inventor: Vernon A. Kiffmeyer
