  • Patent number: 6726119
Abstract: An upright-type fire protection water spray mist nozzle has a base defining an orifice through which fire-retardant fluid can flow, an inlet section having an upstream end and defining a conduit for flow of fire-retardant fluid along a orifice axis and leading to an upstream end of the orifice, with a diffuser element defining an impingement surface that is at least substantially imperforate in an axial direction and positioned for impingement by a stream of fire-retardant fluid flowing from the orifice in a stream direction along the orifice axis, the diffuser element being positioned generally above a horizontal plane through a downstream end of the orifice.

  • Patent number: 4903688
Abstract: A system for the removal of plaque and other unwanted debris from the teeth of a user includes a toothbrush having a handle, a distal head, and a multiplicity of bristles. Each bristle includes a shaft having a base associated with a surface of the head, the shaft extending away from the surface and terminating in a proximal end disposed in relation to proximal ends of other shafts for mutual engagement with teeth surfaces of a user. The multiplicity of bristles define between themselves a multiplicity of interconnected restricted flow pathways. The surface of the head defines an orifice surrounded by the bases of the bristles. A conduit has a distal end terminating in the orifice.

  • Patent number: 4610881
Abstract: In a composition for application to a porous substrate, e.g. timber, to protect it e.g. from attack by insects or fungi, there is a protective substance, e.g. a boron-rich compound (containing at least 25% by weight B.sub.2 O.sub.3) in a liquid carrier which according to the invention is a hygroscopic liquid, preferably ethylene glycol. When applied to wood the composition with the glycol carrier penetrates the outer layers of the wood more rapidly than a comparable composition with water as carrier.
