  • Patent number: 6462976
Abstract: The design and fabrication of a highly integrated, intelligent integral horsepower, three-phase induction motor drive is based on multichip module (MCM) technology. A conventional three-phase induction motor is transformed into a stand-alone variable-speed drive by way of MCM technology. This solid-state controller-known as a multichip power module (MCPM)-uses known good die (KGD) to obtain minimal footprint, volume, and mass, while maximizing efficiency, reliability, and manufacturability. This is done by integrating the low-power control and high-power sections onto a single substrate. In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, an integrated circuit assembly formed on a single substrate is capable of transforming and controlling AC power input to DC power output responsive to input signals.

  • Patent number: 6200065
Abstract: The screed includes an elongated blade vibrated by a centrally located, eccentric weight. The blade is supported by an elongated shaft extending to a power source that drives the weight. An associated operator handle facilitates convenient manipulation of the screed. A unique vibration dispersion system enables the centrally located weight to effectively vibrate the entire blade length. The dispersion system includes an elongated, rigid integral brace extending the entire blade length. The brace secures to the eccentric weight via a vibratory housing. Vibrations from the housing force the blade to vibrate violently to consolidate the plastic concrete. As the screed is drawn across wet plastic concrete, it simultaneously consolidates the concrete by vibrating it thoroughly throughout the monolith while also striking off and levelling the top layer of the concrete.

  • Patent number: 5468036
Abstract: A strap system for temporarily binding skis and poles together for easy carrying and stowage. The system comprises a pair of hook and loop pile fastener material straps for securing the skis face to face. Each strap comprises an elongated body having an outer side provided with fastener material and inner and remote ends. A gripping surface and fastener material backing are affixed to an inner side of the body. The gripping surface frictionally contacts a pair of skis bound by the straps, preventing slippage of the installed strap. The backing releasably engages the body's fastener material when the strap is installed. A ski pole band for separately, releasably binding ski poles to previously bound skis extends from a central portion of the body. The band is a length of fastener material adapted to selectively mate with the body outer side fastener material. When deployed, the band provides a smooth, protective outer side for normally guarding the installed strap.

  • Patent number: 5351853
Abstract: A resilient, modular closure for selectively sealing an opening in a pry tab beverage can. The closure comprises a handle perpendicularly extending from an integral body. The handle is grasped between the thumb and the forefinger of the user. The body comprises a downwardly-projecting, beveled offset adapted to mate with the can opening, and a notch adapted to wedgably engage the pry tab. The ventral surface of the body comprises a circumferential ridge adapted to contact a top of a beverage can to seal around the opening or to mate with a reinforcement channel surrounding the can opening. Raised guides are defined along the dorsal surface of the notch for captivating the pry tab during installation of the closure. A snap fit yieldably engages the rim of the can when the closure is installed. The snap fit comprises a rim-receptive slot. A stop extends rearwardly from the body to contact an inner surface of the rim, and an "L" shaped jaw extends downwardly from the handle.
