Abstract: The liquid carrier in a Fischer-Tropsch synthesis slurry reactor system is periodically or continually separated and subjected to cracking and isomerization in the presence of suitable catalysts. The treated carrier is returned to the reactor system and the accumulation of high viscosity paraffin in the reactor slurry is minimized. Suitable catalysts include a mixture of cracking and isomerization catalysts. Zeolite ZSM-45 is a novel constituent of the catalyst system.

Abstract: A catalytic multi-stage hydrocarbon conversion process is provided for reducing high metals content, sulfur content and pour point of the catalytically reacted residual oil by the use of sequential combination of catalytic compositions. In the first stage, the residual oil, under demetalation and desulfurization reaction conditions, is passed over a catalyst comprising about 1 to about 10 weight percent of a Group VIB metal, based on the total catalyst weight, on a supporting comprising at least 85 weight percent alumina. The resulting catalyst contains at least 65 percent of its pore volume in the 150 to 300 Angstroms diameter range or at least 60 percent of its pore volume in the 100 to 200 Angstroms diameter range.

Abstract: 3-alkoxy-1 diamines are reacted with a carboxylic acid. The reaction product is further reacted with an inorganic base such as calcium oxide. The product obtained is an additive useful in gasoline to inhibit intake valve deposits and as a dispersant in lubricating compounds.
Abstract: Agglomerated crystalline zeolites are deagglomerated by treating the zeolite following crystallization. At a point where crystallization is complete, a basic solution is added and/or the temperature of the reaction mass is increased by between 50.degree. and 100.degree. F. Alternatively, the crystalline zeolite is recovered and thereafter treated with a basic solution.

Abstract: The elution of zinc from zinc-impregnated zeolite catalysts is minimized by incorporating gallium into the catalyst composition. Optionally, palladium may also be included in the composition. The catalyst composition is used to effect the conversion of propane in hydrocarbon streams to aromatic hydrocarbons.
Abstract: The pour point of a hydrocarbon charge stock boiling above about 850.degree. F., is reduced by catalytically dewaxing the charge stock in the presence of a zeolite catalyst and subsequently subjecting at least the liquid portion thereof to hydrotreating in the presence of a hydrotreating catalyst comprising a hydrogenating component and a siliceous porous crystalline material from the class of ZSM-5, ZSM-11, ZSM-23 and ZSM-35 zeolites.

Abstract: Heavy oils are simultaneously subjected to hydrocracking and dewaxing using a catalyst comprising zeolite beta and an X or Y or other faujasite zeolite together with a hydrogenation component. The process is able to effect a bulk conversion of the oil while, at the same time, yielding a low pour point product.

Abstract: Disclosed is a catalyst and process for making same wherein sepiolite is ion exchanged with a Group Ib, IIb, IIIb, IVb, Vb, or VIIa metal, impregnated with VIa metal and exchanged with a magnesium salt with intervening processing steps of calcining. The catalyst composition is useful in removing metals and hydroprocessing of hydrocarbon feedstocks. The catalyst can also be mixed with a high silica/alumina ratio zeolite such as sodium ZSM-5 zeolite.
Abstract: An improved catalyst composition is disclosed for converting synthesis gas to hydrocarbon mixtures. The catalyst comprises an iron-containing, Fischer-Tropsch catalyst and a crystalline zeolite having a silica-to-alumina ratio of greater than 200 (including zeolites containing essentially no alumina) and an (R.sub.2 O+M.sub.2 /.sub.n O):SiO.sub.2 rate of less than 1.1:1 where M is a metal other than a metal of Group IIIA, n is the valence of said metal, and R is an alkyl ammonium radical, said organosilicate being characterized by a specified X-ray diffraction pattern.
Abstract: Petroleum and petroleum fractions are demetalized by contacting them with a solid phase Bronsted acid, preferably a perfluorinated sulfonic acid resin or polymer. The petroleum or petroleum fraction can be dissolved in a solvent.
Abstract: The economics and thermal efficiency of an olefin-to-gasoline-conversion process utilizing catalyst beds is improved by separating the effluent product from the beds into a gas in a liquid phase, cooling the gas phase to form additional liquid and heat exchanging the liquid with the overhead gas from the separator.
