  • Patent number: 7128197
Abstract: A sortation system and method includes providing a sorter assembly and a slug-building assembly. Product is received by the sorter assembly and sorted to a series of sortation lanes. The slug-building assembly includes a plurality of supply lines supplying product for sorting by the sorter assembly. At least one of the supply lines includes an accumulation conveyor and a slug conveyor. Product is accumulated in slug portions at the accumulation conveyor. Slug portions are combined into product slugs at the slug conveyor. Product slugs are discharged from the slug conveyor for sorting by the sorter assembly.

  • Patent number: 6659523
Abstract: A transfer apparatus for automated parts movement includes a cylinder and a piston assembly slidably positioned within the cylinder. The piston assembly includes an outer piston having a recess in which an inner piston is slidably received. A transfer assembly is attached to the piston assembly and includes an inner rod, a sheath, and a gripper. Introduction of fluid at one port or end of the cylinder moves the piston assembly to extend the gripper and transport a gripped part to a target destination. At the target destination, the transfer assembly is moved via pressurized fluid in the cylinder to cause the gripper to release the gripped part. Introduction of fluid generally at an opposite end of the cylinder moves the transfer assembly and gripper to a retracted position relative to the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 6419078
Abstract: A conveyor lubricating device for providing lubrication to a drive chain of a trolley which travels along a track of a conveyor system. The lubricating device is positionable adjacent an arcuate section of track between horizontal section at different height. The lubricating device provides lubricant to the chain as they are in their most opened orientation as the chain bends along the curve. The lubricating device is for lubricating chains in a system having an enclosed I-beam track.

  • Patent number: 6269933
Abstract: A compact article singulation and accumulation conveyor includes a receiving portion which receives articles in random order including clusters of side-by-side articles and a discharge portion from which articles are discharged in a single file singulated stream. A first conveying surface transports articles longitudinally from the receiving portion to the discharge portion. A recirculating bed removes side-by-side articles from a downstream portion of the first conveying surface to an upstream portion of the first conveying surface. The recirculating bed is made up of at least one peel-away conveyor having a second conveying surface adapted to move side-by-side articles laterally off the first conveying surface, at least one coupling conveyor having a third conveying surface adapted to move articles from the second conveying surface upstream and at least one return conveyor having a fourth conveying surface adapted to move articles from the third conveying surface to the first conveying surface.

  • Patent number: 5949591
Abstract: A vehicle exterior rearview mirror assembly provides a break-away housing which exhibits increased dampening, reduce vibration, and consistent break-away force while requiring simplified tooling to manufacture. The mirror assembly includes a housing having a reflective element supported and a mounting bracket adapted for mounting to a vehicle. The mounting bracket includes a pivot extending between the mounting bracket and the housing, for pivotally mounting the housing to the mounting bracket. The mounting bracket and housing include a plurality of detent assemblies for releasably coupling the housing to the mounting bracket. At least two detent assemblies have a longitudinal extent which is substantially parallel to a line which extends through a center of rotation of the pivot. Preferably, the at least two detent assemblies are positioned on opposite sides of the pivot and are positioned on opposed sides of mounting bracket.
