Abstract: A temperature detection circuit of a semiconductor memory apparatus includes a fixed period oscillator, a temperature variable signal generating unit and a counting unit. The oscillator is configured to generate a fixed period oscillator signal when an enable signal is enabled. The temperature variable signal generating unit is configured to generate a temperature variable signal whose enable interval varies based on temperature variations, when the enable signal is enabled. The counting unit is configured to count the oscillator signal during the enable interval of the temperature variable signal to generate a temperature information signal.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for processing optical information using a low density parity check code are suggested. An optical information recording method includes the steps of encoding data to record into a low density parity check code; representing the data, which is encoded into the low density parity check code, to a spatial light modulator in the unit of a data page; and modulating a recording beam into the data page representing the spatial light modulator to be recorded in the form of hologram in a recording medium. By blocking inexact probability information from being concentrated in the LDPC code block, by achieving exact probability information through effective allocation of a mark, and by improving average accuracy of the pixel, which corresponds to the LDPC code, failure rate of decoding can be minimized so that decoding performance can be improved.
Abstract: A power supply comprises an input voltage detector that detects a drop in input voltage that corresponds to an input voltage loss. A power converter is coupled to the input voltage detector. The power converter, which may be a boost converter or a power factor correction converter, has a switching device that is actuated in accordance with a duty cycle. A duty cycle adjuster is responsive to detection of the drop in the input voltage to adjust the duty cycle of the switching device in order to limit an input current surge through the switching device below a desired level after the input voltage returns.

Abstract: An HVDC transmission system including a rectifier station and an inverter station each having a series connection of at least two converters. A by-pass DC breaker is connected in parallel with each converter. A control device is adapted to deblock a blocked converter by starting to control the converter at high delay angle and gradually decreasing the delay angle until substantially all DC current flows through the converter and to then control the by-pass breaker to open at substantially zero current, and to stop the operation of a converter by controlling the converter at gradually increasing delay angle until the voltage across the converter is substantially zero and to then control the converter to be blocked by firing a by-pass pair thereof and to then control the by-pass breaker to close for taking over all the DC current when the voltage between a neutral bus and a pole of a transmission line between the stations is to be increased and reduced, respectively.
Abstract: A method for fabrication of 3D semiconductor devices utilizing a layer transfer and steps for forming transistors on top of a pre-fabricated semiconductor device comprising transistors formed on crystallized semiconductor base layer and metal layer for the transistors interconnections and insulation layer. The advantage of this approach is reduction of the over all metal length used to interconnect the various transistors.

Next, the first InGaN is heat-treated at a second temperature lower than the first temperature in the reactor, while supplying a second indium raw material and a second nitrogen raw material to the reactor. Then, after the heat treatment, a second InGaN is deposited at least once to form the first InGaN film.

Abstract: An improved system and method for generating and controlling conducted acoustic waves for geophysical exploration are provided. A plurality of overpressure waves are generated by at least one overpressure wave generator comprising at least one detonation tube having an open end. The at least one overpressure wave generator is oriented so the plurality of overpressure waves are not directed directly towards a target media. The recoil force of the at least one overpressure wave generator occurring during generation of the plurality of overpressure waves is coupled to the target media to generate conducted acoustic waves. The timing of the generation of the plurality of overpressure waves can be in accordance with a timing code and can be used to steer the conducted acoustic waves to a location of interest in the target media.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a pulse light source which has a MOPA structure using a directly-modulated semiconductor laser as a seed light source, and is easily capable of outputting pulse light with a pulse width of a sub-nanosecond. The pulse light source comprises a seed light source, a first YbDF (Yb-Doped Fiber), a band-pass filter, a second YbDF, and a third YbDF, and has the MOPA structure. The band-pass filter inputs pulse light which is outputted from the seed light source and amplified by the first stage YbDF, and outputs, while separating a wavelength band of the inputted pulse light into a shorter wavelength side and a longer wavelength side with reference to a peak wavelength of the inputted pulse light, the attenuated pulse light after attenuating the optical power on one more than that on the other of the shorter wavelength side and the longer wavelength side.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a measuring method and a controlling method of measuring the physical quantity such as a fluid temperature distribution and the like by using an optical fiber sensing technique of BOCDA system. In the measuring method, an optical fiber that functions as a BOCDA-type optical fiber sensor is disposed along a flow direction of a fluid that flows though a pipe line and in the pipe line. Since the optical fiber directly contacts with the fluid that flows though the pipe line, it is possible to rapidly measure the fluid temperature distribution. Also, based on this measurement result, the controlling method adjusts each temperature of one or more heating/cooling means provided along the longitudinal direction of a pipe line, thereby controlling at high accuracy the fluid temperature distribution in the pipe line.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a hollow load-bearing beam structure of fiber-reinforced composite material. The method includes preparing a first lay-up of a first plurality of layers, and a second lay-up of a second plurality of layers. The first and second lay-ups are positioned on different sides of a mandrel and formed to a beam structure by bending the lay-ups against the mandrel, such that the side edges of the respective layers of the first and second lay-ups are arranged as offset butt joints in the circumferential direction of the formed beam structure.

Abstract: A suspension arrangement for directional equipment. The arrangement includes a body that supports the equipment and that supports a drive motor with a driving belt sheave, a driven belt sheave coupled to the directional equipment and a drive belt running between the belt sheaves. To prevent random or periodic movements in the mounting of the supporting body being transmitted to the equipment, a stabilizing unit including two guide rollers mounted at a fixed distance from one another on a displaceable holder, is designed to act via the guide rollers upon the belt in the space between the driving belt sheave and the driven belt sheave.
Abstract: Wireless systems and methods establish an optimal wireless communication link by efficiently positioning an antenna module to receive/transmit the most effective signal. An antenna module scans and rotates and receives data such as available networks and the qualities of received signals. Received networks are analyzed, recorded and mapped to antenna variables such as azimuth, elevation and polarity. Automatic or manual selection of a wireless network is based upon antenna variables, qualities of received network signals and predefined conditions. If desired, a more refined antenna position is obtained by the addition of spiral antenna rotations and additional recordings of received data are mapped to antenna elevation, azimuth and polarity. In the event the measured effective signal reception diminishes, the center destination of the spiral path shifts and the process repeats until the highest effective signal reception is found.
Abstract: A positioning system for aerial refueling of an aircraft provided with a first element for connection with a second element arranged on a tanker plane. The first and second elements are adapted to feed fuel from the tanker plane to the aircraft. A receiver on the aircraft is arranged to receive signals from the second element. A control unit on the aircraft controls the aircraft depending on the signals to steer the aircraft to a position for connecting the first and second elements.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a laser light source having a structure for effectively suppressing generation of an optical surge upon a restart after suspension of output of pulsed light. The laser light source comprises a first light source outputting light with a first wavelength as pulsed light, a second light source outputting light with a second wavelength different from the first wavelength, an optical amplification fiber as an optical amplifier amplifying the pulsed light outputted from the first light source and the light outputted from the second light source, and a control unit controlling the output of the light from the second light source in accordance with the light output from the first light source. The first light source has an ON state in which repetitive output of the pulsed light on a fixed cycle starts and continues, and an OFF state in which the output of the pulsed light is suspended during a duration of not less than the fixed cycle.
Abstract: An optical receiver with a simplified arrangement able to compensate the optical loss of the transmission medium is disclosed. The optical receiver of the invention includes an SOA in the front end thereof, an optical de-multiplexer, and a plurality of receiver modules that receives de-multiplexed light. The optical gain of the SOA is adjusted based on the electrical signals output from respective optical modules. When the receiver modules show the output thereof in a preset range, the bias current is kept unchanged, while, one receiver module shows the output out of the range, the bias current is incremented or decremented. When one receiver module shows the output out of the absolute maximum/minimum, the bias current is forced to the initial value.
