    Abstract: Nitrogen- and oxygen-containing compositions prepared by reacting, in the presence of an acid catalyst,(A) at least one aliphatic hydroxy compound of the formulaR.sup.1 (OH).sub.xwherein R.sup.1 is an aliphatic hydrocarbon-based radical and x is an integer which is at least 1, with(B) at least one (tertiary amino) alkanol useful as lubricant and fuel additives. Also disclosed are concentrates of these compositions and lubricants and fuels containing these compositions.
