Abstract: An aquarium includes a tank with a canopy forming a top for the tank. A well is formed in the canopy with a ledge and a hollow hinged door fastened to the canopy and resting on the ledge. The door includes a transparent bottom panel and a removable top panel with a lighting fixture mounted on the top panel and positioned so that it illuminates the interior of the tank. The door can be opened for tasks such as cleaning the tank. The described configuration isolates the light fixture from the tank such that changing of the bulb or tube or servicing of the light fixture may be accomplished with minimum danger of electrical shocks from contact with water in the tank. A smaller port on one side of the canopy provides ready access to the tanks for feeding the fish.
Abstract: A laminated pouch includes a layer of woven synthetic fabric, a layer of polyfoam and a layer of liner material, the layers being bonded together under heat and pressure. During the molding process selected areas of the laminate material is compressed under substantial heat and pressure to permanently deform the laminate into areas of substantially less thickness than uncompressed areas, the compressed areas being of substantial stiffness. The laminate is also formed with edges, and corners of substantial stiffness. The pouch is formed of two such laminate layers which are trimmed and fastened together at the edges. The resulting pouch retains its shape well and is not significantly deformed by the weight or pressure of its contents.

Abstract: A tubular pipe wrench for removing and replacing pipes in inaccessible locations includes a generally cylindrical head member having an internal passage large enough to pass the pipe to be worked on and having a cross-sectional configuration like a triangle with greatly rounded corners. A jaw member having teeth is loosely fastened in each of the three corners by bolts which pass through slots in the sidewalls of the head member. Concentric with the head member is a sleeve having ports for receiving the bolts and which maintains the relative spacing of the bolts even though they move radially in the slots. When a pipe is inside of the head member, a slight turning of the head member and sleeve in either direction causes the teeth of the jaw members to make contact with the pipe, moving the jaws into a position where they are wedged between the pipe and the flattened cam surfaces on the inside of the head. Further turning of the sleeve and head will turn the pipe.

The child resistant features include the location of the user controlled valve operator at a point on the reservoir body which is difficult if not impossible for a child to simultaneously operate the valve operator and the thumb wheel with a single hand.
Abstract: A combination electronic digital wristwatch and electronic shift scheduler using a digital liquid crystal display, enclosed within a watch-type case, for use primarily by firefighters. The invention provides both a device and a method that allows an individual who needs to keep track of platoon and shift schedule information to enter, display, review, search, and modify that information on a full-function wristwatch. The combination includes time and date display, a chronograph function, and an alarm clock with chime. Four switches are connected to a signal conditioner for encoding each switch closure to be input into a CPU which generates the required signals for the display after reference to the calendar information stored in the ROM and the user input information stored in the RAM. The CPU makes the calculations required for the operation of this invention.

Abstract: A construction applicable to dental crowns, facings, inlays, and the like including a stainless steel wire mesh (3) shaped to fit closely over a prepared tooth remnant (1), and being integrally bonded to a cavity (11) of a crown body (4) so as to form an integral crown (5) ready for use. The integral crown (5) can be adhered to the remnant (1) in a conventional manner, for instance by using dental filler. The body (4) and mesh (3) are very strongly joined by a mechanical interlock action by virtue of the mesh texture.
Abstract: The present invention discloses an adjustment system for forming a repeatedly adjustable hem on a garment. There is provided an adjustment mechanism comprising of a cord with one end that is attached to the garment's inside hem while the other end passes through a holding pocket or channel that is secured to the garment's inside seam. The second end of the cord above the holding pocket or channel is then preferably knotted to provide a stop or limit to adjust and the second end is secured to the garment lining. The fabric lining conceals the adjustment mechanism. A fabric tab is secured to the second end and the lining as a grasping point for making a length adjustment. The bloused lining is smoothed, the garment is pressed, and the adjustment is complete and undetectable. Embodiments are shown for adjusting trouser leg lengths, coat or jacket sleeves or body length as well as skirt and waistband adjustment.

Abstract: In a brain irradiating system a large number of Cobalt 60 radiation sources are carried in ports in a heavy primary shield. After the normal ten year useful life of such radiation sources, they are often difficult to remove because due to corrosion, etc, the aluminum source holders become fused in their ports. The apparatus herein includes a hollow collet which grasps the head of the source holder surrounded by and, preferably, splined to a mechanical puller which securely holds the collet around the source holder cap. Liquid nitrogen is caused to flow into the hollow collet and against the cap of the source holder, causing the aluminum source holder to shrink more than the surrounding steel of the primary shield. The source holder and the Cobalt 60 source may then be either pulled out or, if threadedly engaged with the primary shield, turned out of its port.

Abstract: A process for tunneling in tissue to install catheters and the like includes insertion of a hollow needle through the skin and, exiting from the skin as limited by the length of the needle or the catheter to be installed. A suture is then fed through the needle after which pulling tip of diameter approximately the same as the catheter to be installed, is selected and the suture attached to the distal end of the pulling tip. The catheter is then fastened to the proximal end of the pulling tip and the free end of the suture pulled to pull the catheter through the tunnel defined by the suture. The needle and suture may be inserted successively a number of times if a longer catheter is to be installed and the pulling tip and catheter pulled through the tissue. A similar procedure may be implemented using a solid needle with a swaged-on suture.
