  • Patent number: 6850789
Abstract: A medical diagnostic instrument includes at least one blood oxygen saturation sensor and at least one temperature sensor. The sensors are being capable of measuring blood oxygen saturation and temperature simultaneously after insertion of a probe portion of the instrument relative to a defined body site, such as the axilla, rectum, or sublingual pocket of a patient. At least a portion of the probe portion of the instrument is disposable.

  • Patent number: 6147705
Abstract: A video colposcope includes a system microcomputer having algorithms for color balance levels stored into memory. A video camera obtains a subject electronic image of a subject object, and using algorithm-driven digital signal processing circuitry (DSP), color saturation, hue, and intensity levels of the subject electronic image are modified according to DSP reference filter algorithm and reference color balance levels as stored, thus producing a modified electronic image corresponding to the subject electronic image. The modified electronic image is outputted to a display in continuous real time as the corresponding subject image is obtained by the video camera. This modified electronic image emulates that obtained through an optical green filter and incorporates a simulated white balance.

  • Patent number: 6106457
Abstract: An imaging instrument includes a compact hand-held housing having an electronic imaging element supported within a housing, and a plurality of interchangeable instrument heads separably attachable to the housing. Each of the instrument heads includes an optical system disposed in alignment with the electronic imaging element along an instrument viewing axis. Preferably, the instrument further includes an integral display for displaying at least one captured or real-time video image as viewed through the instrument head of choice. The instrument includes a controller with sufficient programmable logic to capture and store a plurality of imaging images which can be transferred along with audio and/or annotation data relating to a captured image. Corresponding video and audio data can be then transferred using a receiving cradle to a computer which contains software which organizes the stored data for further processing.

  • Patent number: 6055821
Abstract: Apparatus for purging non-condensable gases from an absorption system containing a purge tank connected to the system absorber for collecting non-condensables. A vacuum pump is connected to the tank for drawing the non-condensable gases from the tank and exhausting them to ambient. A solenoid actuated valve is mounted in the vacuum pumps discharge line which is arranged to close immediately when the pump is rendered inoperative during a normal shutdown or during a power failure.

  • Patent number: 5780834
Abstract: A low profile optical unit for use in a 2D bar code reader. A vertically disposed light redirecting panel having contoured reflective openings therein is mounted in the front of the unit and an LED behind the panel. Light emitting diodes for illuminating a target are mounted on the LED board behind the contour openings whereby direct light and reflected light illuminates a target. An imager housing is mounted on the back of the LED board and contains a recess that passes through the back of the housing and a lens barrel that extends forward through holes provided in the LED board and the light redirecting panel. An imager board is secured to the back of the housing which holds a 2D imager that is contained within the housing recess. Circuitry for generating image data signals is mounted on the back of the imager board. A lens holder is threadably mounted in the lens barrel which contains a lens system having a short back focal length for focusing a target image on the imager.
