  • Patent number: 4801921
Abstract: An abdominal muscle firmness alarm is characterized by a control unit containing a mechanism for producing a signal in the form of an electrical charge or a vibration impulse; a switch for controlling operation; a timer for selecting the interval between the transmitted signals; and, discs interconnecting the control unit and selectively affixed to the wearer's abdominal region over the Rectus muscles. When the wearer senses the signal through the aforesaid discs, the wearer is reminded to contract the muscles of the abdomen, increasing the muscle tone of the latter and serving restoring and abdomen flattening purposes.

  • Patent number: 4774781
Abstract: An indicia display characterized by indicia units, either letters or numbers, which, when assembled, create a different visual image depending upon the viewing angle. In addition to direct viewing at a preselected angle, the direct viewing of the reflected image is available through use of a mirror or reflecting surface (where the reflected image is the backside of each indicia unit). The indicia units may be grouped either horizontally or vertically, where the number of indicia units involved is not limited. Virtually all letters, for example, are combinable, i.e. so that each indicia unit presents a different pair of letters, depending upon viewing angle. The indicia units may be carved from wood, cast from metal or molded from a plastic resin.

  • Patent number: 4773287
Abstract: An open-ended ratchet wrench characterized by a handle pivotally carrying a stationary jaw, with a toggle jaw pivotally secured to the latter. The handle includes a cam at the jaw mounting end thereof which presents camming surfaces selectively functional at operative conditions of the wrench. In this regard, one camming surface in combination with the pivotal jaw provides maximum force power during one operative condition, while another cam surface cooperates with the stationary jaw in a stop relationship. A feature of the invention is the ready sliding placement thereof into a workpiece engaging condition, where tightening and untightening of the workpiece is achieved by inverting the wrench 180.degree..

  • Patent number: 4768272
Abstract: An arrangement for assembling a metal storage tank which includes a framework having a stationary end frame portion and a carriage selectively movable toward and away from the end frame portion on rails disposed on the framework. Cylindrical tank sections, positioned on roller members mounted between the rails, are urged into a successive abutting arrangement by movement of the carriage toward the stationary end frame portion and, subsequently, rotated for on-site seam welding, i.e. one cylindrical tank section to another. The end frame portion and the carriage both include freely rotatable roller members disposed normally with respect to each other, in a vertical plane, to reduce drag upon cylindrical tank section rotation.

  • Patent number: 4763820
Abstract: A multi-purpose vehicle garment hanger characterized by a flexible body selectively disposed along and retained at a desired location on and by the side window of a vehicle when the side window is at a closed position. Hooks, as loops, for common hooked hanger receiving purposes, are secured to the flexible body, where the latter includes a stop for positive unit placement and/or retention at a desired use location. The arrangement also affords an ice/snow removal function through the provision of a blade defining an edge of a plate member secured to the flexible body.

  • Patent number: 4749604
Abstract: A display and storage arrangement for accessory items characterized by a body member assuming a variety of configurations in plan view and defined by an upper fabric layer and a bottom fabric layer, with a batting and/or filler material layer disposed therebetween. A series of closures is arranged on the outer surface of the upper layer in a manner reflecting the needs of the user. The closures may assume a variety of forms and, typically, include Velcro fastening for ready accessory item removal and/or placement, being individual, in pairs, and for locating bands which receive a series of individual items. The finished unit presents a pleasing appearance, serving, as well, effective utilitarian purposes.

  • Patent number: 4747469
Abstract: A collapsible sawhorse arrangement characterized by a generally horizontal work receiving member including a lower plate portion and a vertical plate portion extending longitudinally therealong. The lower plate portion presents pairs of openings on opposite sides of the vertical plate portion adapted to receive supporting legs for the work receiving member, such supporting legs angling inwardly in a bearing relationship with the walls of the vertical plate portion. In a preferred embodiment, enlargements are presented on the walls of the vertical plate portion which serve frictional engagement purposes with the supporting legs.

  • Patent number: 4737129
Abstract: An artificial vine, ornamental in appearance and form, arranged for carrying articles, where the latter, as a doll, for example, is selectively stored and removed from a pod which forms part of the artificial vine. The pods, which are also selectively removable from the stem of the vine, are each slitted so that, when open, a receiving cavity is presented. Opening may be accomplished by the use of a flexible material which resumes a closed position after release of flexing or, on the other hand, material which is readily movable from a closed to an opened condition, and conversely. In any event, whatever material is used should compliment the vine so as to present a total ornamental effect.

  • Patent number: 4725353
Abstract: An aquarium cleaning arrangement characterized by the use of an open bottomed casing for selectively defining the boundary of a portion of the pebbles and/or gravel in an aquarium, and where water is pumped into the casing to achieve agitation therwithin and to dislodge and remove unwanted settled debris. A water recirculating arrangement is provided which includes a pump, a filter, and a water discharge system within the casing, the latter presenting stationary or fixed water jets extending into the pebbles and/or gravel and a rotatable member driven by water flow passing through angled outlet jets thereon. Provision is made for valving, forming part of the water recirculating arrangement, to achieve filtering of all water in the aquarium, i.e. including that which is outside of the casing.

  • Patent number: 4722325
Abstract: A shutter arrangement adaptable to a solar energy system for either a residential or commerical building characterized by a skylight presented in a roof portion of the building, and a shutter supported on the roof portion and selectively slidable behind the skylight from and to a solar energy blocking relationship with respect to the interior of the building in response to temperature variations. The shutter surface facing the skylight presents reflective physical properties, while the surface facing the interior of the bulding presents an ornamental appearance. The invention affords two-fold primary purposes, to-wit, high efficiency for a solar energy passive building and a decorative effect for the building's occupant. Importance lies in the fact that the temperature responsive device or thermocouple serving shutter control is in direct engagement with the inner surface of the glass panel forming part of the skylight.
