  • Patent number: 6063239
Abstract: The invention relates to security paper and in particular to a method for the manufacture of security paper that is provided with high-quality watermarks. In particular such a method comprises forming a papermaking suspension comprising cellulosic fibers and polyvinyl alcohol fibers, which polyvinyl alcohol fibers are soluble in water at temperatures of from 95 to 100 degrees C, dewatering the papermaking suspension through an emboseed wire mesh or other embossed means, wherein the embossing creates a profile of peaks and troughs corresponding to the light and dark areas of the watermark, and the formed paper after dewatering with the watermark feature is thereafter dried to provide the resulting security paper.

  • Patent number: 6062109
Abstract: The pressure jaw (1) for a compression device to install floor elements in a diagonal manner relative to a rectangular floor area is generally triangular in shape, the longest side providing an edge part (2) bent downwardly to press against the outer edge of a floor element (4) whose outer edge is cut diagonally, preferably at an angle of 45.degree., in relation to the longest side of the floor element. On the two legs of equal length the pressure jaw includes edge strips (5) bent upwardly each of which serves to couple with a customary compression device that is designed to install floor panels parallel to the wall and which, for example, incorporates at the end of a compression belt (7) a similarly modified pressure jaw 6 which can be coupled with a pressure jaw (1) by the engaging of the edge strips (5).

  • Patent number: 6060708
Abstract: A unitary removable shield, serving the same function as a film or coating of electrically conductive material applied over the conductive cavity of a universally adaptable corona generating or charging device, is inserted into the cavity to adsorb and desorb nitrogen oxide species produced by negative corona. The unitary removable shield has a generally U-shaped cross-sectional configuration which fits within the cavity. The shield may be retained in the housing by engaging and conforming to the shape of the conductive cavity in a tight frictional fit so as to make electrical contact with the conductive cavity. The shield may also be retained in the housing by tabs or pressure-loadable clips which engage portions of the housing.

  • Patent number: 6059550
Abstract: A twin-cylinder impeller pump is disclosed. In the above pump, the twin-cylinder runner (3, 4) is provided with an elastic sealing means for removing any gap from the junction between the runner and the throat of a pump casing (10) with the runner being positioned at its upper or lower dead point. In a transmission gear mechanism of the above pump, the drive shaft does not directly engage with the driven shaft, but indirectly engages with the driven shaft through two idle gears (14, 17). In each of the idle gears (14, 17), both a circular concentric gear (14, 17) and an elliptical eccentric gear (15, 18) are commonly mounted to a shaft, thus forming a twin gear. The two elliptical eccentric gears (15, 18) engage with each other, while the two circular concentric gears (14, 17) engage with the drive and driven gears (13, 16) respectively, thus effectively reducing operational noises and vibrations during a pumping operation.

In one embodiment a first sensor is formed of a first optical material having a corresponding first sensible thermomechanical response and a second sensor is formed of a second optical material having a corresponding second sensible thermomechanical response. The first and second thermomechanical responses are sufficiently different so as to produce independent temperature and strain measurements. Particular embodiments employ intrinsic or extrinsic Fabry-Perot interferometers (IFP, EFP),sensors, in-line fiber etalon (ILFE) sensor and a fiber-optic Bragg grating.

  • Patent number: 6050334
Abstract: A single trip whipstock assembly which can be run into a well, set, and operated from a window in the well casing in a single trip includes a milling tool (5) attached to the upper end of a whipstock (6) to the lower end of which is attached a packer (7) or anchor which can be set by appropriate means prior to detachment of the mill from the whipstock to initiate window formation. The packer may be hydraulic and may be set by means of a setting tool (4) located above the mill (5) and connected to the packer by a hose (21). The mill (5) incorporates circulation ports which are initially isolated from the central chamber thereof to permit flow of hydraulic fluid from the setting tool to the hose (21) via the interior of the mill. Once setting has been effected, the hose (21) is severed, permitting the piston of the setting tool to operate a flow diverter within the mill and open the circulation ports to the interior of the tool for subsequent drilling mud circulation during milling operation.
