Abstract: A semiconductor protection tube is a ceramic tube with a layer of silicon carbide covering at least a portion of the tube adjacent an open front end of the tube and extending forward of the open end to form a hollow, closed-end tip. The protection tube is formed by providing the ceramic tube, inserting a mandrel through the tube to extend forward of the front end, and depositing silicon carbide by chemical vapor deposition over at least a front portion of the ceramic tube and over the forward-extending portion of the mandrel. Subsequent removal of the mandrel completes the production of the protection tube.

Abstract: A photoimageable composition, useful as a photoresist for forming a printed circuit board, is both alkaline aqueous developable but, subsequent to exposure and development, is processable in highly alkaline environments, such as additive plating baths and ammoniacal etchants. The photoimageable composition is tack-free and is resistance to polymerization inhibition by oxygen, and is therefore particularly suitable for contact printing. The photoimageable composition comprises A) between about 25 and about 75 wt % of a binder polymer, B) between about 20 and about 60 wt % of a photopolymerizeable material which is a multifunctional photopolymerizeable monomer or short chain oligomer, and C) between about 2 and about 20 wt % of a photoimageable chemical system, the weight percentages being based on the total weight of components A)-C).

Abstract: A polyol ester or poly-alkylene glycol lubricant is tagged by adding to the lubricant a chemical marker which is stable over the temperature cycling range of a refrigerant. In testing for the presence of the marker, a sample of a lubricant is obtained, and the sample is diluted in a sufficient volume of an organic solvent such that subsequent admixture with an aqueous solution will not result in emulsification. The diluted sample is extracted with an aqueous solution appropriate for the marker. Simultaneous with or subsequent to extraction, a chromophoric reaction of the marker is induced, whereby a readily identifiable color is observable.
