  • Patent number: 6851328
Abstract: A transmission control apparatus includes transmission lines disposed between a pair of transmission shafts and a hydraulic multiple disc transmission clutch disposed on one side of the transmission lines. Power from an engine is transmitted via one of the transmission lines to a traveling unit. Each of the transmission lines has a friction clutch. A first gear mechanism operated by a first actuator is disposed between one of the transmission shafts and the first transmission line. A second gear mechanism operated by a second actuator is disposed between one of the transmission shafts and the second transmission line. When the first transmission line is powered, a first system operates the second gear mechanism into a speed position; the first clutch to a non-transmitting state and the second clutch to a transmitting state, thereby providing a progressive shifting of the transmission clutch from a transmitting state to a semi-transmitting state.

  • Patent number: 6626167
Abstract: A segment type diamond tool, used for cutting or drilling brittle substances, such as stones, bricks, concrete structures, or asphalt structures, is disclosed. In the diamond tool, the segments are each set with diamonds in a single-layered structure or a multi-layered structure, and are alternately or intermittently arranged on a steel core, different from conventional diamond tools having segments randomly set with diamonds. Such a diamond arrangement of this invention allows the diamonds to more effectively perform their cutting action, and so the diamond tool has an increased cutting rate, in addition to reducing the amount of fine debris generated during a cutting or drilling process to ill-affect worker's health or cause environmental pollution.

  • Patent number: 6389654
Abstract: A clamp assembly (8) in accordance with the present invention includes a tightening mechanism (10) connected to an elongated, flat metal band (12). The metal band is configured to encircle a conduit. The tightening mechanism (10) includes a saddle (14) securely attached to the band (12). A housing (16) is pivotally and slidably connected to the saddle (14). The housing (16) defines a recess (17) housing a locking worm (18). The locking, worm (18) is rotatable in the housing and defines spiral threads (20) adapted to cooperate with slots (26) defined in the band. The housing (16) is pivotally and slidably connected to the saddle (14) so that the housing is pivotable relative to the saddle and movable in an axial direction substantially parallel to the saddle to further engage and lock with the saddle in a closed position of the tightening mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6380686
Abstract: The method of the present invention includes the first step of applying power to a character and/or image display apparatus and setting up input/output port values and initialization values, the second step of initializing all LED values and clearing a screen, the third step of reading initial picture data from a nonvolatile backup memory, the fourth step of writing the data read from the backup memory into a working memory, the fifth step of reading initialization data from the working memory, the sixth step of displaying an initial picture and performing a still mode until a rotation speed of a motor becomes stable, the seventh step of reading data other than the initialization data from the working memory, the eighth step of sequentially performing modes corresponding to commands contained in the read data, and the ninth step of repeating the above seventh and eighth steps until all commands stored in the working memory are processed.

  • Patent number: 6191935
Abstract: An electric double-layer capacitor that is adapted for use in an electric vehicle, for example, and uses aluminum collector electrodes. A native oxide film is formed on each aluminum electrode. Hard granular carbon is made to penetrate through the oxide film into each aluminum electrode. The aluminum electrodes are connected with positive and negative polarizing electrodes, respectively, via the granular carbon, thus lowering the contact resistance.

  • Patent number: 6024425
Abstract: A storage apparatus that includes a storage shelf having a plurality of horizontally and vertically arranged storage sections for storage of articles and a moving body for taking articles in and out of the storage shelf. Conventionally, since an article carrying in and out section for taking articles in and out of such storage apparatus is divided into working sections having substantially the same width as that of storage sections, a space for work is small and a work is made difficult and inefficient when the moving body is used to take articles out of the storage sections or articles are placed on the working sections. Therefore, a working space, which protrudes beyond the article carrying in and out section and is free of partitions is provided. With such arrangement, however, there is a problem that a storage apparatus is extended in a lengthwise direction.
