  • Patent number: 7975810
Abstract: A wheel brake for a bicycle or other vehicle has a pair of pivoting arms. Each arm is configured to support a brake pad. A first arm pivotally supports a cam. A second arm defines a cam surface and a cable guide. The cam has a first end for mounting of a cable and a second end having a roller which rests on the cam surface. When the cable is actuated, the cable pulls the first end of the cam, causing the cam to pivot and causing the second end of the cam to roll along the cam surface. Force applied by the cam compresses the arms, causing associated brake pads to move inwardly into engagement with the wheel. The brake is compact and efficient in design.

  • Patent number: 7975729
Abstract: An in-structure air delivery system comprises a control panel and a plurality of air delivery lines. The control panel is located at a first location in the structure and has an air supply inlet. Each air delivery line extends from the control panel to a different location in the structure. Valves are configured to selectively control the flow of air through each of the air delivery lines. In a method of use, a high pressure air supply such as a portable compressor is connected to the inlet of the system. Air is selectively delivered to one or more of the delivery lines. A control unit is connected to the outlet of the delivery line. Air is supplied to the control unit. The control unit is used to regulate the flow of air to a component of breathing equipment, such as to a firefighter's breathing equipment air cylinder to be re-filled.

  • Patent number: 7973602
Abstract: Various amplifier configurations having increased bandwidth, linearity, dynamic range, and less distortion are shown and disclosed. To increase bandwidth in a transimpedance amplifier, a replica circuit is created to replicate a degeneration resistance, or the resistance or value that relates to a feedback resistance. From the replica circuit, the replicated values are mirrored and processed to control a FET switch which modifies a degeneration resistance. The FET switch control signal is related to the feedback resistance and modifies the degeneration resistance to thereby maintain the product of the feedback resistance and the degeneration resistance as a constant. In another embodiment, a second switch controlled by an automatic gain control signal is established between a first stage amplifier and a second stage amplifier to improve dynamic range and bandwidth without degrading other amplifier specifications.

  • Patent number: 7959543
Abstract: An isolated curl machine and method therefor is disclosed herein. Generally, the isolated curl machine provides a resistance having a force which is directed upward and away from the user. The machine may also support the user's upper arms, or a portion thereof. In this manner, training on the machine is highly focused on the biceps. The machine may comprise a frame, a seat, an arm rest, and a resistance device. The user may engage the machine by sitting in the seat and placing his or her arms on the arm rest. In this position, the user may engage the resistance device such as by grasping a handle of the resistance device. The resistance device provides the resistance which resists movement of the user's arm during a bicep curl and may be configured such that the force of the provided resistance is directed upward and away from the user.

  • Patent number: 7948862
Abstract: A crosstalk cancellation system and method is disclosed for use in a multi-channel communication system. Crosstalk which couples between channels is cancelled through use of an in-line FFE filter and in-line delay. A cross-connect system associated with each channel includes a cross-connect delay and cross-connect filter. The cross-connect system generates a cancellation signal for each of the channels, which is routed into a junction. The junction subtracts the cancellation signal from the received signal, which has also been delayed and filtered, to remove unwanted cross-talk. During training, cancellation magnitude is monitored at various delay offsets to determine which offset and corresponding filter coefficients, for each delay, maximizes cancellation. The filters are set with filter coefficients that maximize cancellation. The cross-connect delay with the maximum offset is set to zero and its calculated offset amount is established as the in-line delay offset.

  • Patent number: 7944323
Abstract: Temperature compensation is provided for a PIN-diode attenuator by temperature-sensitive resistive networks. In one embodiment, each temperature-sensitive resistive network includes a resistor connected in series to a parallel network formed from another resistor and an n-type thermistor, whose resistance decreases as temperature increases. As a result, as temperature increases, the currents applied by the resistive networks to PIN diodes in the attenuator also increases to compensate (at least partially) for the temperature dependence of the operations of the PIN-diode attenuator. Low-pass filters are provided in the resistive networks to inhibit relatively high-frequency (e.g., RF) signals in the attenuator from reaching and distorting the operations of the thermistors.

  • Patent number: 7896739
Abstract: A gaming system includes multiple gaming machines. The gaming machines are configured to issue value tickets, such upon cash-out. The tickets may be presented at the same gaming machine that issued the ticket or at other of the gaming machines. In particular, each gaming machine generates its own tickets, including associated ticket records. The ticket records generated at each gaming machine, however, are transmitted to other gaming machines so that when a ticket is presented at any of the gaming machines, any of the gaming machines can directly validate the ticket and credit the associated value.

  • Patent number: 7874971
Abstract: A calf extension training device which focuses training on the calf muscles is disclosed herein. The training device may comprise a frame, base, riser, sled, and one or more springs. The sled may comprise a sled frame and shoulder extensions, and is configured to move along the length of the frame while attached to one or more springs. Generally, the user stands on the riser leaving the user's heels unsupported while the user's shoulders are engaged by the shoulder extensions of the sled. The user may then lift and lower the sled using his or her calf muscles. This occurs by the user raising or lowering his or her body by extending and flexing the ankles. Resistance may be provided by one or more springs attached to the sled and the frame. The springs may provide variable resistance against the force of the user's calf muscles.
