  • Patent number: 6120730
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method and apparatus for sterilizing containers with gas-phase hydrogen peroxide and heat on a linear form, fill and seal packaging machine. A partially formed container is subjected to multiple applications of gaseous hydrogen peroxide and hot air within a sterilization tunnel. The sterilization tunnel is maintained at a temperature greater than the condensation temperature of hydrogen peroxide. The present invention sterilizes the container allowing for filling of the container with a high acid product such as orange juice for ambient distribution. The container may be any number of possibilities such as TETRA REX.RTM. gable top cartons, plastic bottles, and the like. The invention allows for the efficacious use of hydrogen peroxide gas having a concentration of up to 53%.

  • Patent number: 5019695
Abstract: A card puncher for punching as a yardstick of use a card for getting coupon tickets on and used as tickets on omibuses and electric trains, and a method of controlling the card puncher. Data on a target quantity of conveyance of the card correponding to a position where the card is punched is stored in memory. A card conveyer is driven to convey the card by a quantity corresponding to data on the target quantity of conveyance stored in the memeory. A quantity of coast of the card after the drive of the card conveyer is teminated is measured. If the sum of the target quantity of conveyance and the measured quantity of coast of the card is within a predetermined allowable limit, the card is punched. If otherwise, data on the target quantity of conveyance in the memory is corrected such that the sum falls within the predetermined allowable limit, the card is returned to a position where the punching starts and the punching operation is retried.

  • Patent number: 5007890
Abstract: A folder plow for a web of material in which the plow is positionable transversely of the longitudinal movement of the web material and has a folding disk rotatable on an axis convergent with the web and being adjustable by tilting about its axis of rotation to position its folding edge at different angles to the plane of the web to obtain a wrinkle free fold without gussetting and to prevent marking. The plow has a cylindrical section rotatable about an axis parallel with the plane of the web, which section is partially telescoped over the disk and provides a shroud for a major section of the disk, the disk having a small sector projecting radially from the contiguous portion of the cylindrical section.
