  • Patent number: 8348905
Abstract: A mechanical injection device for injecting apportioned doses of a liquid drug. The injection device comprises a dose setting assembly comprising a cap and a cap receiving part, adapted to abut or engage with the cap when the cap is mounted on the injection device, and an injection assembly. Mounting and/or dismounting of the cap on/from the injection device causes the dose setting assembly to set a dose. Thereby a correct dose of drug is automatically set during a cap on/cap off cycle. Since such a cycle is normally performed between two subsequent injections, the number of steps required to be performed by the user is reduced.

  • Patent number: 8298194
Abstract: A refillable injection device (1) having a dose setting mechanism with a dose setting member (4) and a dose rod (11). The dose setting member and the dose rod engage during normal operation of the injection device, and they do not engage during change of cartridge. The dose setting member and the dose rod need to be moved into engagement when a new cartridge is inserted in the injection device. Thereby there is a risk that stress is build-up in the piston rod. In order to prevent this, the cartridge holder is operatively connected to the dose rod in such a manner that when a cartridge is being inserted in the cartridge holder, the dose rod is caused to move along with the piston rod in an axial direction, at least while the dose setting member and the dose rod are moved into engagement.

  • Patent number: 8221359
Abstract: A drug delivery device capable of working in at least two different modes which includes a dose injection mode and a set-up mode. The drug delivery device automatically changes from the dose injection mode to the set-up mode and vice versa in accordance with the detection of the cover by a cover detection switch. In the dose injection mode doses can be set and injected; in the set-up mode various parameters assisting the use of the drug delivery device can be set. This setting is preferably done by selecting the parameters from a menu, also in this mode historical data stored in the device can be viewed.

  • Patent number: 8177767
Abstract: A cartridge having a distal end provided with a mechanical coding. The coding has the form of a circular protrusion where the circular outer diameter is dedicated a specific concentration of insulin contained in the cartridge. The distal end of the cartridge is fitted in to a circular contour in the housing. The outer diameter of the protrusion on the distal end of the cartridge is chosen as a larger diameter for a higher concentration of insulin. In this way only a cartridge containing the correct concentration or a lower concentration fits into a delivery system designed for a specific concentration of insulin.

  • Patent number: 8075522
Abstract: A disposable double pointed injection needle has a needle hub to which a thin needle cannula is permanently fasten and which needle hub can be mounted on to a syringe comprising a dose setting and injection mechanism and a cartridge containing a liquid medicine to be injected subcutaneously into a human body. The needle hub is provided with a safety shield guided on the outside surface of the needle hub. The safety shield is urged in a direction away from the needle hub by a spring located between the needle hub and the safety shield. The safety shield has a number of protrusions guided in guiding tracks on the outside surface of the needle hub. The guiding tracks are designed such that the safety shield during injection is moved towards the needle hub, and after injection is moved away from the needle hub by the spring and locked in an irreversible position where the safety shield covers the needle cannula and prevents accidental needle stick injuries.
