  • Patent number: 5572926
Abstract: An apparatus and method for unloading presses with a nonhydraulic press unloader. The apparatus generally includes a support frame, a reciprocating tray, a tray arm, a link arm, an actuating arm, and an attachment arm. The support frame has a pair of support frame members having top surfaces. A tray roller, for supporting the reciprocating tray, is rotatably mounted to each end of the support frame member. The tray arm is slidably engaged with the top surface of one of the support frame members and is pivotally attached to the link arm. The midsection of the tray arm is pinably connected to the reciprocating tray. The actuating arm is pivotally connected to the other end of the link arm and to the support frame. A pickup roller is rotatably attached to the actuating arm near its midsection. A release roller is rotatably attached to the actuating arm also near the midsection and adjacent the pickup roller. As the press ram rises, the arms draw the tray in between the gap presented by the separating die halves.

  • Patent number: 5574830
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a tactile image drawing system for the visually impaired comprising: a) a computer for storing and processing graphic images and alphanumeric and braille text; b) a reference surface on which the graphic images or text will be drawn; c) a plotter connected to and cooperative with the computer for receiving data representative of the graphic images or alphanumeric text and for drawing the graphic images or alphanumeric and braille text, the plotter having an extrusion syringe for dispensing a bead of liquid material for drawing the graphic images or text on the reference surface; d) device connected to and cooperative with the computer and the plotter for governing the flow output and the temperature of the liquid material; wherein the liquid material is viscous and fast-drying and is adapted to dry as a raised relief when deposited on the reference surface, the raised shape creating a tactile representation recognizable by tactile perception performed by a visually impaired person.

  • Patent number: 5566531
Abstract: A machine and process for wrapping workpieces, typically napkins. The machine having an infeed conveyor from which workpieces are feed to a poly film supply apparatus, via a conveyor assembly, that distributes a predetermined portion of the poly film supply apparatus around the workpieces to form a horizontally disposed U having a first tail and a second tail of poly film wrap. The conveyor assembly has two conveyor belts that are arranged so that the end of the first conveyor belt meets an end of the second conveyor belt. The second conveyor belt is mounted on a pulley system that allows the end of the second conveyor belt to move away from the end of the first conveyor belt after the workpieces have transferred to the second conveyor belt so that a gap between the two belts is presented. A folder folds down the first tail of poly film wrap. A second folder and a sealer bar come up through the gap and fold up the second tail against the first and seal it in place.

  • Patent number: 5567113
Abstract: An apparatus and method for palletizing work pieces or stacks of work pieces from a storage table onto a pallet. A sweep plate lowers at the edge of the storage table and sweeps the work pieces onto a movable load table. The load table moves over the pallet and a wipe plates lowers such that when the load table is retracted, the work pieces will be deposited onto the pallet. A hydraulic lift table is also provided for supporting the pallet and automatically lowering the pallet to accommodate the layer of work pieces.

  • Patent number: 5524760
Abstract: An apparatus for interlocking the top layer of corrugated cardboard cartons in a palletized load of said cartons while also providing edge protection, load containment, a flat even surface to stack additional palletized loads upon, and the ability to stack palletized units of boxed product while not damaging the stacking tabs used in produce corrugated cardboard carton designs. The apparatus has two sides at substantially right angles to each other that meet to form an edge. Material is removed from at least one side to create a plurality of slots for receiving the stacking tabs in the tops of the corrugated cardboard cartons. The apparatus is placed on the edge of the upper layer of cartons on a palletized load to interlock the cartons for greater load stability and to reduce load failure.
