  • Patent number: 5771662
Abstract: An apparatus (10) is disclosed including a web of film (20) extending between first and second pairs of pinch rollers (12-15) and onto a vacuum table (18). A rotary cutter (46) positioned before the first pair of pinch rollers (12, 13) includes laterally extending and spaced knives (52) for creating cuts (54, 58) in the film (20) which expand into vent openings (54') positioned over the sides (68) of the product (72) when the film (20) is wrapped around and shrunk upon the product (72). A further rotary cutter (30) positioned between the pairs of pinch rollers (12-15) includes a cut-off knife (36) and first and second blades (44). The cut-off knife (36) creates a cut (60) in the film (20) to form a single sheet of film (20) and includes notches (38) in its cutting edge to form tie strips (62) connecting the single sheet to the web of film (20).

  • Patent number: 5765672
Abstract: A device (10) is disclosed for intercepting the input of a system (23) of an internal combustion engine (12) normally provided to a solenoid valve (22) for actuating a fan clutch (20) when rotation of a fan (16) is desired. The input is received by terminals (42, 43) and is conditioned and passed on to a timer (96) and a controller (97). A vacuum switch (24) senses whether the fan (16) is rotating and provides a second input to the controller (97). In the event that an input is provided by the system (23) and the time delay signal has been provided by the timer (96) and also in the event that an input is provided by the system (23), the time delay has expired, and the second input is provided by the vacuum switch (24), the controller (97) provides an actuation output to terminals (71, 73) connected to the solenoid valve (22) by use of actuation provisions (98) to actuate the fan clutch (20).

  • Patent number: 5755792
Abstract: Device and method for treating mammalian bone deficiencies, defects, voids and conformational discontinuities produced by congenital deformities, osseous and/or soft tissue pathology, traumatic injuries and functional atrophy is described. The device is a one piece molded body member composed of four substances, each of which contributes to the device, a specific requirement (or requirements) for osteogenesis and/or osteoneogenesis. Taken as a whole, the functions of these device constituents are integrated into a single body member which, when implanted into a bone defect, has the capacity to restore functional architecture and mechanical integrity, initiate osteoinduction and osteogenesis, and maintain the biological processes of bone formation and remodeling while the host organism is simultaneously biodegrading the body member.

  • Patent number: 5752810
Abstract: A pump (10) is disclosed including an integral clutch and including a housing (26) divided into a clutch zone and a pump zone by a dividing wall (58). An input shaft (12) including a clutch spider (16) is rotatably mounted by a ball roller bearing (54) to a clutch end plate (50). An output shaft (14) is rotatably mounted by linear roller bearings (62, 76) to a pump end plate (68) and the dividing wall (58). A disk pack (20) is slideably mounted to the clutch spider (16) and the output shaft (14) and sandwiched by a piston (34) moved by fluid pressure outward relative to a pressure cylinder (36) and against a pressure plate (28) removably connected to the axial end of the output shaft (14). Thus, axial clutch actuation loads are transmitted only through the disk pack (20) and not to any of the bearings (54, 62, 76). The free axially outer end of the output shaft (14) extends through the pump zone and is located in the pump end plate (68).

  • Patent number: 5752123
Abstract: An automatic X ray developing device comprises a base platform, four support legs disposed beneath four corners of the base platform respectively, a rotating disk and a motor disposed beneath the base platform, a plurality of rollers disposed on the base platform, a cylindrical container disposed on the base platform, a clamp seat disposed on the base platform, and a U-shaped seat disposed on the rollers. Three vessels are disposed in the cylindrical container. The cylindrical container, the base platform, and the rotating disk are fastened together. The motor has a shaft. A driving wheel encloses the shaft of the motor. The rotating disk abuts the driving wheel. A clamp holder has an extended rod, a hooked end connected to the extended rod, and a clamp hanging on the extended rod. The clamp clamps an X ray film. The hooked end is disposed on the clamp seat.

  • Patent number: 5746541
Abstract: A mobile sod cutting machine has mounting arms that have a central axis of elongation with a cable installer mechanism mounted to the lower end of one of the arms for being reciprocated with the arm. The cable installer mechanism includes a vertical ground slitting blade having a front slitting edge, a bottom edge intersecting the slitting edge and a shank mounting portion mounted to the mounting arm. An upper cable guide is attached to the shank mounting portion to extend rearwardly of the central axis of elongation of the mounting arm while a bottom cable guide is mounted to the blade adjacent to the intersection of the blade bottom edge and slitting edge to have its reversely bent edge forwardly of the central axis of elongation but spaced rearwardly of the blade bottom edge along the guide length by a distance about as least as great as the reciprocal fore and aft movement of the blade.

  • Patent number: 5736160
Abstract: An improved method or process and device for treating and healing a bone void is disclosed, and in particular a method employing a surfactant for efficiently incorporating a biologically active agent into the interstices (voids or pores) of a porous hydrophobic biodegradable material wherein the biologically active agent is deposited on the internal surfaces defining the voids or pores of the biodegradable material. The biodegradable body or device, now containing surfactant and a biologically active agent in the body itself as well as on the external surfaces and the internal surfaces defining the voids or pores, is then applied into the bone void or cavity.
