  • Patent number: 4752173
Abstract: A hand truck apparatus configured for transporting, as well as lifting, a load and also configured so that the hand truck apparatus is self-stabilizing under all conditions of use. The hand truck apparatus in accordance with the invention provides mechanical advantage for lifting the load and is configured for precisely lifting the load to a raised position. The hand truck apparatus in accordance with the invention is self-stabilizing when a load is not placed on the hand truck apparatus, as well as when a load is placed on the hand truck apparatus and for any raised position of the load. The hand truck apparatus in accordance with the invention is particularly advantageous when used in connection with transporting and installing solid core doors. Hinge plates are first attached to the edge of the door. The door is then placed on the hand truck apparatus and transported to the location of installation.

  • Patent number: 4749949
Abstract: A microwave frequency multiplier employs a first diode and a second diode each coupled in anti-parallel relationship across a signal input of a finline structure, each of the diodes being associated with signal-induced biasing elements for self biasing the diodes. A bias is caused to occur at internal nodes which increase with increased input power for a broad range of input power levels. The presence of such biasing results in waveform clipping at higher signal levels. Relative to prior art, the conversion loss will remain optimum up to high input power over an entire high-power input range. Additional external bias may be employed in alternative embodiments.

  • Patent number: 4733234
Abstract: A remote calibrated power source system comprises an instrument for generating power, the instrument being positioned at a first location, and a remote calibrated power source module for outputting calibrated power, the remote module being positioned at a second location that is removed from the first location. The remote module includes power sampling means for sampling the power generated by the instrument and generating a sampled voltage, the power sampling means having inherent frequency errors, a compensation circuit for generating a frequency-varying correction voltage, and summing amplifier means for receiving both the correction voltage and the sampled voltage and generating a compensated sampled voltage.

  • Patent number: 4717280
Abstract: A retaining and locking clamp, mounted onto a first apparatus, for retaining and locking a second apparatus to the first apparatus. The first apparatus has a plate which in turn includes an aperture. The clamp comprises an inner rod that has a first end portion and a second end portion, the second end portion being adapted to be received within the aperture of the first apparatus plate so as to mount the inner rod to the first apparatus. The clamp also includes an outer sleeve that is rotatably mounted onto the inner rod, the outer sleeve has a retaining and locking flange and a surface. The clamp further comprises a turn knob that is rotatably mounted onto the inner rod, the turn knob has a surface that is adapted to frictionally engage the outer sleeve surface, whereby rotating the turn knob causes the turn knob surface to frictionally engage the outer sleeve surface so as to permit the outer sleeve flange to retain the second apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4549091
Abstract: An electrical excitation circuit is disclosed for a gas laser. The electrical excitation circuit includes a charging circuit connected in series with a pulse forming network between a power source and the laser load. The charging circuit includes a capacitor charged by the power source and a thyratron for transferring voltage to the pulse forming network. Alternatively, the charging circuit includes a capacitor charged upon the firing of a silicon controlled rectifier through a saturable step-up transformer which saturates for transferring voltage to the pulse forming network. The pulse forming network includes a saturable inductor switch positioned with respect to a capacitor so that when the voltage on the capacitor reaches a predetermined level, saturation of the saturable inductor switch releases electrical energy stored in the capacitor to the laser load.
