Patent number: 5833585Abstract: An adductor machine including a pair of movement arms movable about a vertical axes between an open position extending laterally from the seat and a closed position extending forwardly of the seat. The movement arms are movable to the closed position by the user engaging with the inner sides of his thighs, pads respectively located on the movement arms. Movement of the movement arms is transmitted to move a resistance in the form of one or more weights in a weight stack. Such transmission is accomplished by a linkage and cam follower arrangement operatively connected between the movement arm and a weight stack pin included in the resistance weight stack. An auxiliary actuating mechanism is provided to move the movement arms between the open and closed positions independently of engaging the pads with the legs. This actuating mechanism includes a handle engageable with the cam included in the transmission to operate the cam independently of a linkage which extends between the movement arms and the cam.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 1996Date of Patent: November 10, 1998Assignee: MedX 96, Inc.Inventors: Arthur A. Patent number: 5800310Abstract: Method and apparatus for testing the muscle strength of a subject wherein both static and dynamic strength tests are conducted on the subject during which forces exerted by the muscles are measured by devices which are connected to a computer and a display screen for displaying the strength of the muscles at different positions of a subject's body part. In the dynamic strength test, the subject moves a movement arm by exerting the muscles to be tested. The movement arm is connected to a resistance weight to oppose movement by the subject. In the static strength test, the movement arm is fixed in position and the subject exerts a body part against the movement arm upon exertion of the muscles to be tested. Force and angle measuring devices are connected to the movement arm and the computer for enabling the muscle strength to be displayed in terms of torque at various angular positions of the body part.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 1995Date of Patent: September 1, 1998Assignee: MED-X 96, Inc.Inventor: Arthur A. Patent number: 5762585Abstract: An exercise machine or apparatus having a movement arm to be moved upon exertion of a body part against a resistance including a weight that pivots about an axis as the movement arm is moved by the exerciser. To change the resistive force imposed by the weight, the weight is moved relative to its pivotal axis to thereby increase or decrease the effective resistive force. The movement arm is operatively connected to the resistance by a cam connected to the movement arm and engaged with a follower which in turn is connected to the weight to pivot the weight about its pivotal axis. The cam is operatively connected to the movement arm by a strain gauge and a releasable lock mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1996Date of Patent: June 9, 1998Assignee: MedX 96, Inc.Inventors: Arthur A. Patent number: 5695665Abstract: A welding method that permits thick pieces of metal to be welded together over the entire face of their touching surfaces during a process of self organizing, single pass arc welding in the ambient air without any special proofing of the welding bath melt. The higher quality and faster weld when welding considerably thick metals in a single pass is achieved by using an insulated stationary consumable electrode clamped between the parts to be welded together and by scientifically substantiated selection of the value of the electric power applied to the end face of the electrode. The arc is distinguished by the fact that the value of its power is sustained at a level which keeps the pressure of the metal vapor P.sub.me which arises due to vaporization of the electrode material in the welding zone higher than the air pressure P.sub.atm with a relation between them complying with the rule P.sub.me .gtoreq.(1.1-2.0)P.sub.atm.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 1996Date of Patent: December 9, 1997Assignee: Russian American Technology Inventions LCInventor: Igor Zuev

Patent number: 5623976Abstract: Method and apparatus for automatically supplying containers with a liquid using an electronic scale and high speed microprocessor for measuring the weight of liquid introduced into the containers. The first container is partially filled to a predetermined percentage of a target weight as measured by the scale. Flow into the container is then stopped by closing a valve controlled through the scale and microprocessor. The actual weight of the liquid introduced at this point is measured and a correction factor is determined by subtracting the predetermined percentage weight from the actual weight. Flow into the container is then resumed until a second predetermined weight is achieved as measured by the scale and equal to the target weight minus the correction factor. Flow at this point is stopped by again closing the valve.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 1996Date of Patent: April 29, 1997Assignee: Benjamin Moore & Co.Inventor: Dominic Muscara

Patent number: 5564921Abstract: A method of forming an abutment post and securing it to an implant in prosthodontic restorations wherein a post part is applied to a collar part and the parts are rotated relative to each other into a desired position where they are fixed together. The fixed parts are then used to form a one-piece abutment post such as by molding when the parts are made from a resin material. The one-piece abutment post is secured relative to an implant in patient's mouth to form a body for a crown or coping. An adaptor between the post and the implant can be used to adapt the post to various types and sizes of implants.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 1995Date of Patent: October 15, 1996Inventor: Gerald M. Patent number: 5531432Abstract: A feeder for feeding corrugated blanks in a box finishing machine including overlying and underlying endless timing belts sandwiching the blanks to feed them. The belts are spaced from each other to form a first gap at rectilinearly moving sections located between opposite end pulleys of the belts. The gap between the belts at the inlet and outlet pulleys is greater than the first gap whereby blanks are engaged and fed by the belt sections as they move rectilinearly between the opposite end pulleys. One of the belts is urged into yieldable engagement with the blank by a pressure mechanism including a floating pressure plate engaging the belt and a spring engaging the pressure plate. An extended stroke feeder is used to feed blanks to the endless belts at a constant velocity matched to the velocity of the belts.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 1994Date of Patent: July 2, 1996Inventor: Louis M. Patent number: 5439380Abstract: Abutment posts, gingival collars, and universal adaptors along with their fixation screws that are used for insertion into dental implants are revealed. The adaptor is universal in that it matches to many different shaped, sized, and styled implants, and standardizes their restoration with uniform gingival collars and abutment posts. A gingival collar of varying sizes, which extends from the top of the flange of the adaptor to the height of the gingival tissue, is used to bring the restoration of the implant into the oral cavity. A post becomes connected to the gingival collar to create a restoration for the placement of a crown or coping over the implant. The top of the adaptor has a projection which is indexed and the top of the gingival collar is also indexed. This indexing allows specific angle correction in the horizontal plane by the counter rotation of the gingival collar and the post head.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 1994Date of Patent: August 8, 1995Inventor: Gerald M.
