  • Patent number: 6083258
Abstract: An expandable intraluminal stent able to resist axial compression, comprising a body portion having a generally cylindrical structure formed by a series of interconnected bars or struts, at least one of said struts being formed of two portions having overlapping free ends; and a plurality of teeth projecting on adjacent surfaces of said overlapping free ends; whereby said stent is expanded to allow said two portions of said at least one strut to overlap at said free ends, whereby said teeth on said adjacent surfaces of said overlapping free ends of said struts engage one another to retain said stent in its expanded shape.

  • Patent number: 6048933
Abstract: The invention provides a process for the preparation of a thermoplastic elastomeric resin composition comprising (a) 100 parts by weight of a block copolymer consisting of at least two polymeric blocks (A) composed of a vinyl aromatic compound and at least one polymeric block (B) composed of a conjugated diene compound, or a hydrogenated block copolymer, (b) 20 to 300 parts by weight of a non-aromatic softening agent for rubber, (c) 1 to 100 parts by weight of a peroxide-crosslinking type olefinic resin or a copolymeric rubber containing said resin, and (d) 10 to 150 parts by weight of a peroxide-decomposition type olefinic resin or a copolymer containing said resin, characterized in that the process comprises a step of heat-processing component (a), component (b), at least a part of component (c) and a part of component (d) in the presence of an organic peroxide to cause crosslinking, and a subsequent step of blending these with the remaining part of component (d) and, if any, the remaining part of component

  • Patent number: 5840547
Abstract: A bioemulsifier designated Alasan or E-KA53 is produced from Acinetobacter radioresistens strain KA53. In its essentially pure form it has the characteristics of a molecular weight of from about 100,000 to 2,000,000 Daltons; emulsifying activity which increases with preheating at increasing temperatures--60.degree.-90.degree. C.; resistance to strong alkali while retaining increased emulsifying activity; reduced viscosity that varies as a function of temperature treatment; and emulsifying activity that varies as a function of pH and magnesium ions.
