  • Patent number: 7828051
Abstract: An improved perforating gun having a tubular housing, a tubular carrier and a charge carried by the tubular carrier. The tubular carrier comprises an inside diameter, an outside diameter and an opening disposed between the inside diameter and the outside diameter. The charge comprises a forward end positioned in the opening between the inside diameter and the outside diameter. The tubular carrier increases a collapsible-pressure rating for the housing and positions the charge closer to the formation.

  • Patent number: 6457315
Abstract: A method and apparatus for enhancing the power output and operational efficiency of a combustion turbine system using a combined refrigerant substantially comprising a first refrigerant and a second refrigerant, whereby the combined refrigerant exhibits a total pressure substantially greater than each respective first and second refrigerant at a temperature inside an evaporative chiller. In a preferred embodiment, the combined refrigerant cools turbine inlet air through the exchange of heat from the inlet air, in an air chiller, with a coolant which is cooled by the combined refrigerant in the evaporative chiller. The combined refrigerant, after it is used to cool the coolant in the evaporative chiller, is separated through the use of a liquid absorbent which absorbs the second refrigerant to form a solution pair. The non-absorbed first refrigerant is compressed, condensed and then recirculated to eventually join the second refrigerant which is desorbed from the solution pair in a regenerator.

  • Patent number: 6427777
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for forming and reentering multiple lateral wells through a wall of a common well bore. The system includes an anchor, an orienting member, an extension member, a diverter and a probe releasably connected by one or more unilateral connections and a multilateral connection. The unilateral connection restricts rotational and translational movement of the system upon makeup, and maintains alignment between components thus joined in a single direction. The multilateral connection also restricts rotational and translational movement of the system upon makeup, however, enables alignment between components thus joined in multiple directions. Thus, use of the system enables lateral orientation of the diverter at multiple positions, positioning the diverter at multiple longitudinal positions and selective reentry of each lateral well formed.

  • Patent number: 6401486
Abstract: The present invention is directed to methods and apparatus for improving the recovery of the relatively less volatile components from a methane-rich gas feed under pressure to produce an NGL product while, at the same time, separately recovering the relatively more volatile components which are liquified to produce an LNG product. The methods of the present invention improve separation and efficiency within the NGL recovery column while maintaining column pressure to achieve efficient and economical utilization of the available mechanical refrigeration. The methods of the present invention are particularly useful for removing cyclohexane, benzene and other hazardous, heavy hydrocarbons from a gas feed. The benefits of the present invention are achieved by the introduction to the NGL recovery column of an enhanced liquid reflux lean on the NGL components. Further advantages can be achieved by thermally linking a side reboiler for the NGL recovery column with the overhead condenser for the NGL purifying column.

  • Patent number: 6306050
Abstract: A swing training device 10 is shown comprising a base 12, a securing member 16 and a suspension system 20 positioned there between. A ball 40 is supported by the suspension system which may be hit repeatedly without obstruction in order to improve a person's swing. The swing training device 10 includes the additional advantages of minimizing undesired horizontal and vertical movement of the ball 40 while stabilizing the ball 40 substantially within a preferred trajectory path.

  • Patent number: 6260623
Abstract: An apparatus and method for utilizing a flexible tubing string (18) for forming and isolating a lateral entrance opening (23) to a lateral bore hole (25) from a main bore hole (10). A packer (38) mounted on the lower end of a tubular guide (40) has an elbow (56) between an upper central entrance opening (58) and a side exit opening (60). The packer (38) and tubular guide (40) are lowered within the main bore hole (10) to a predetermined depth and azimuth for side exit opening (60) which is positioned adjacent the proposed lateral bore hole (25). Packer (38) is then inflated. The flexible tubing string (18) having a hole forming member on its lower end is lowered within tubular guide (40) and elbow (56) for forming the lateral entrance opening (23, 24) for the lateral bore hole (25) with opening (23, 24) isolated.

  • Patent number: 6228225
Abstract: A semi automatic coke drum deheader device for use on a coke drum wherein the coke drum includes an upper opening, a flange surrounding the upper opening and a first vessel cover releasably attached to the flange. The deheader device comprises a frame attached to the coke drum, a bridge for supporting the first vessel cover and a second vessel cover, a central shaft having a distal end connected to the bridge and a thrust collar surrounding the shaft below the distal end. A lift assembly is attached to the frame for engaging the thrust collar to selectively raise and lower the bridge relative to the flange, and a rotational assembly is operatively connected to the central shaft for rotating the bridge to selectively align the first vessel cover or the second vessel cover above the flange during the delayed coking process.
