Abstract: A system for ventilating an aircraft cabin includes an air supply pipe connected to an air source, and a plurality of air distribution lines branching off from the air supply pipe. In a first operating state, the ventilating system is adapted to blow out the air, flowing through the air supply pipe, directly from the air distribution lines into the aircraft cabin. In contrast, in a second operating state of the ventilating system, at least some of the air distribution lines are connected to connecting lines which supply the air, flowing through the air supply pipe, to air outlets arranged in a distributed manner in the aircraft cabin.
Abstract: A circuit arrangement and method utilize a universal, standardized inter-layer interconnect in a multi-layer semiconductor stack to facilitate interconnection and communication between functional units disposed on a stack of semiconductor dies. Each circuit layer in the multi-layer semiconductor stack is required to include an inter-layer interface region that is disposed at substantially the same topographic location such that when the semiconductor dies upon which such circuit layers are disposed are arranged together in a stack, electrical conductors disposed within each semiconductor die are aligned with one another to provide an inter-layer bus that is oriented vertically, or transversely, with respect to the individual circuit layers.

Abstract: A centrifuge rotor is provided. The rotor includes a compression-molded rotor body that includes a central hub defining an axis of rotation of the rotor body, and a plurality of bays, each configured to receive a bucket therein. A plurality of load transferring members are integrally molded with the rotor body and each include a bucket support for supporting a bucket, with the bucket support permitting pivoting movement of the bucket during centrifugation of the rotor body about the axis of rotation. A reinforcement layer extends circumferentially and/or helically around an exterior of the rotor body.
Abstract: A juncture assembly is provided between first and second ends of respective first and second tubes. The assembly includes a first flange that is located at the first end and a second flange that is located at the second end, with the second flange being in confronting relationship with the first flange. The first and second flanges define a gap between them. A gasket member contacts the first and second flanges and is configured to prevent flow of fluids through the gap. A clamp member of the assembly secures the gasket member to the first and second flanges with the clamp member including a channel for receiving the first and second flanges and first and second restriction elements that extend into the channel for positioning the first and second flanges within the channel.
Abstract: A collapsible detachable bicycle basket is constructed so as to be easily and readily mountable upon a luggage rack of a bicycle without the use of any threaded fasteners. To facilitate such mounting, the collapsible basket has a pair of spaced hooks attached to the top edge of one side of the basket and a resilient flexible connector in the form of a loop of bungee cord attached near the bottom of the same side of the basket. The hooks of the basket are receivable over a portion of the deck of the luggage rack and the loop of the bungee cord is attachable to a lower portion of the luggage rack to secure the basket to the luggage rack.

Abstract: A fixed angle centrifuge rotor is provided. The rotor includes a rotor body having a circumferential sidewall and a plurality of tubular cavities. Each of the cavities has an open end and a closed end and is configured to receive a sample container therein. A pressure plate is operatively coupled to the plurality of tubular cavities so that the pressure plate, in combination with the plurality of tubular cavities, defines an enclosed hollow chamber between each adjacent pair of the plurality of tubular cavities. Each of the plurality of tubular cavities has a sidewall facing an interior of the rotor body and a bottom wall at the closed end.
Abstract: A pharmaceutical dosage form [11, 11g] has reduced susceptibility to counterfeiting, due to the forming directly thereon of a pattern or base layer [10, 10g] of a Moiré pair, wherein a Moiré effect is visually observable by looking through a revealing layer [12, 12g] positioned closely to and superimposed on the base layer [10, 10g]. The pattern fanned on the pharmaceutical dosage form [11, 11g] may be formed by embossing, oblation, inkjet printing, or tampon printing. The revealing layer [12, 12g] of the Moiré pair can be part of a blister package containing the pharmaceutical dosage form [11, 11g], so that the Moiré effect is observable while looking at the pharmaceutical dosage form [11, 11g] as it remains within the package.

Abstract: A compound represented by general formula (a-i) below, and a polymeric compound having a structural unit represented by general formula (a-ii) below (wherein R represents a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group or a halogenated lower alkyl group; X represents a divalent organic group represented by general formula (x-1) below; and R1 represents an organic group having a fluorine atom).
Abstract: Methods and devices for treatment of skin are disclosed. These methods and devices use electromagnetic radiation to create networks or patterns of treatment zones. The networks or patterns of treatment zones comprise at least four treatment zones, at least two of the treatment zones in the network or pattern are slanted at angles in the skin, and the treatment zones extend at least as deep as the dermal-epidermal junction of the skin. Producing intersecting treatment zones and/or overlapping treatment patterns can increase the effectiveness of the treatments. The devices comprise a hand piece operably coupled to a delivery element, wherein delivery of electromagnetic radiation through the device to a portion of skin produces a network or pattern of treatment zones. The use of these methods and devices results in tightening of the skin and/or improvement in the cosmetic appearance of wrinkles in the portion of skin treated.
Abstract: Method for establishing a wind turbine (1) on a foundation (7) where at least a part of the wind turbine rotor (4) is attached to a wind turbine tower (2). Further, the method comprises the steps of positioning the wind turbine tower including the attached wind turbine rotor on the foundation, elevating a wind turbine nacelle (3) to a use position on the tower, and directly or indirectly connecting the nacelle to the attached wind turbine rotor. The invention also relates to transport of a wind turbine tower, and a vessel (10) suitable for transporting a wind turbine tower.
Abstract: A wind turbine rotor blade extension portion having a plurality of segments, located adjacent one another in a span-wise sense. An interface between adjacent segments is configured to minimize disruption to fluid passing thereover and to inhibit transmission of longitudinal loads between segments. Each segment has a first surface and a second surface. The first surface is spaced from the second surface at a proximal region of the extension portion and the first surface is connected to the second surface at a distal region of the extension portion to thereby generate a fair surface for a rotor blade to which the extension portion is connected, in use.
Abstract: A drip pan apparatus for a “M” model BLACK HAWK® helicopter and the like includes an expanded corner structure for accommodating an access port also positioned further outwardly in the corner than in prior drip pan apparatuses, facilitating filter viewing while retaining peripheral o-ring seal. An expanded corner of the airframe skirt is accommodated by the expanded corresponding corner of a frame, which also defines a small radius internal curve. The removable pan has a small radius curve cooperating with the small radius curve of the frame and is sealed thereto by the peripheral o-ring seal sealing the entire pan to the frame. Physical access to the filter is enhanced.
