Abstract: An arbitrator circuit for accessing a bus comprises a logic gate arrangement (406), one input of which is coupled to a first bus line. The circuit comprises a switching arrangement (404, 405, 407). As a response to a control signal the switching arrangement disconnects a first half (402) of the first bus line from a second half (403), and couples the second half (403) to a first fixed potential. A second bus line (401) is decoupled from the logic gate arrangement (406), which is coupled to receive a second fixed potential. The second bus line is coupled to the first fixed potential. Two sources are available for providing the control signal to the switching arrangement (404, 405, 407). One of them is the output of the logic gate arrangement (406).
Abstract: A lock washer includes a planar washer body formed of a sheet of resilient metal having a selected thickness no less than the pitch thread of the bolt with which it is to be used. First and second lock tabs integral with the body extend radially outward of the central aperture, wherein each of the tabs has a radially inward facing, straight, free edge transverse to a radius of the body, and each of the tabs is displaced by a spring bend to one side of the plane of the body. The washer body is etched to a selected lesser thickness in the area of the spring bend to provide a selected spring force when the tab is pushed down to the plane of the body.

The support includes a support body having a distal end spaced from the panel when the support is mounted thereon, with a pair of legs extending from the proximal end of the support body. The legs each have an ear spaced from the support body proximal end to define a shoulder facing the rear face of the panel when the support is mounted thereon. Support flanges on the support body proximal end define mounting surfaces facing the shoulders defined on the leg ears, and a biasing flange on the support body proximal end includes a flexible portion projecting beyond the support flange mounting surfaces toward the shoulders defined on the leg ears.

Abstract: A package having a recloseable pour spout is disclosed, with the package including front and rear package panels which may be joined at respective side edges thereof by inwardly extending side gussets. An upper edge portion of the package is removable, including one of the side gussets, to form a pour spout for dispensing the contents of the package. A fastener strip, which can be detachably connected to itself, extends between confronting inside surfaces of the front and rear package panels, adjacent to the pour spout, whereby the pour spout can be conveniently closed after the package is initially opened. The package can include a longitudinal seal which extends from adjacent the pour spout to overlap the fastener strip.
Abstract: A lifeline system includes a lifeline and a drum assembly around which the lifeline is coiled. The drum assembly is rotatable about a first axis in a first direction during extension of the lifeline and in a second direction, opposite of the first direction, during retraction of the lifeline. The lifeline system further includes a tensioning mechanism in operative connection with the drum assembly to impart a biasing force on the drum assembly to bias the drum assembly to rotate about the first axis in the second direction. The lifeline system further comprises a braking mechanism in operative connection with the drum assembly. The braking mechanism includes a catch that is rotatable relative to the drum assembly about a second axis that is not concentric with the first axis. The second axis is operatively connected to the first axis so that the second axis rotates about the first axis in the same direction as the drum assembly when the drum assembly is rotating about the first axis.

Abstract: A pulley structure having a first rotating member that is rotatable around a first axis. A second rotating member is rotatable around the first axis and in at least partial axial coincidence with the first rotating member. A spring containing chamber is defined between the first and second rotating members. A spring, having axially spaced first and second ends defined by coils, extends around the first axis. At least one coil at each of the first and second axially spaced ends of the spring is radially biased relative to the first axis to thereby be frictionally held against each of the first and second rotating members to thereby allow forces generated by relative rotation between the first and second rotating members to be transmitted through the spring.
Abstract: A back pad system for use in connection with a safety harness which includes at least two spaced back straps and a connector adapted to be connected to a line or lanyard includes a back pad having passages through which the two back straps can be passed to be crossed over the connector, an attachment to which the connector can be moveably attached, and at least one member that captures the connector in an upright position upon application of force such as manual force (either directly or indirectly) to the connector to move the connector to the upright position. A back pad for use in connection with a safety harness includes at least two spaced back straps and a connector adapted to be connected to a line or lanyard. The back pad includes a base comprising passages through which the two back straps can be passed to be crossed over the connector and at least one load indicator.

Abstract: An aspect of the present invention provides a method for providing information to an air traffic controller. The method comprises the steps of: displaying, on a video display, a symbol representative of a position of an aircraft and a first stage of a multi-stage label comprising information relating to the aircraft (210); and displaying, on the video display, a second stage of the multi-stage label comprising additional information relating to the aircraft when a user-controlled cursor is brought into a vicinity of the multi-stage label (220). The first stage of the multi-stage label occupies a smaller footprint on the video display than the second stage. Additional stages of the multi stage label may also be displayed in response to user action (e.g. rotation of a scroll wheel of a computer mouse or other pointing device). Each stage of the multi-stage label may be locked in place, or pinned, through selection of part of the label, via a mouse click or similar action.
Abstract: A variable frequency drive comprises a diode rectifier receiving multiphase AC power and converting the AC power to DC power. An inverter receives DC power and converts the DC power to AC power to drive a load. A link circuit is connected between the diode rectifier and the inverter and comprises a DC bus to provide a relatively fixed DC voltage for the inverter. A link capacitor is across the bus. A soft charge circuit limits in rush current to the link capacitor. The soft charge circuit comprises an inductor in the bus and a resistor assist circuit across the inductor along with an anti-parallel clamping thyristor reverse connected also across the inductor.
Abstract: A therapeutic cushion (1) having a plurality of fluid-filled chambers (2, 3, 4, 5, 6), with each chamber having an internal volume that is independently adjustable. In a pillow embodiment, air-filled chambers are dynamically regulated in response to a monitored behavior or characteristic of a resting user.
