    Abstract: A device is provided for applying a binding material around an object. The object is moved by a conveyor means into a length of binding material that extends across the conveyor path. The binding material is tensioned by a reciprocable tensioning means and the length of material fed to the conveyor path is determined by a brake means that halts the further supply of the binding material in response to a predetermined length of movement of the tensioning means.
