Abstract: A device for releasing a life boat or the like from a hoisting cable, said device comprising a lifting members (13) attached to the boat, a hook (15) being pivotably mounted at said lifting member, said hook being openable by a releasing device. The object of the invention is to provide a releasing device for emergency situations when the normal releasing device is not functioning and which should be releasable even when the full weight of the boat loads the hooks. This has been achieved by the fact that the lifting member (13) is displaceable in its longitudinal direction and that a locking device (29) actuatable by an emergency device is arranged for blocking the lifting member from displacement.
Abstract: A method and a device for pivoting an accommodation ladder from a stowing position on a ship's deck to an active position outside the ship's side by means of at least one davit (17) and a pulley (21) for the operating wire (22) of the ladder, said pulley being pivotably mounted at the davit. The pulley is pivoted between two positions admitting the center of gravity of one ladder to pass the vertical line through the pivot axle (14) of the ladder when the ladder by means of the operating wire (22) is pivoted from stowing and active position resp. The pivoting of the pulley (21) is achieved by means of a member (27), e.g. a wire transmitting a pull to the pulley caused by the weight of the ladder during the downward movement thereof.
Abstract: A ship's embarkation device comprising a projecting ladder or similar structure (3), which at one end is pivotally connected to a first platform (2), which is pivotally connected to the ship's deck, and at its other end is pivotally connected to a second platform (4). The first and second platforms are unrotatably connected to each other by a connecting bar (5), which is pivotally connected to both platforms. The connecting bar always keeps the second platform in a horizontal position as well as strengthens the torsional resistance of the device. Moreover the ladder is kept tighter to the ship's deck, which prevents the ladder from swinging as the ship is rolling.
Abstract: A ship's embarkation device is provided, which despite moderate heeling (10.degree.-13.degree.) of the ship is kept against the ship's side. The embarkation device is for this purpose provided with at least one turning weight, which in relation to the ship's side is placed outside the central longitudinal plane of the device and thus gives it a turning moment directed towards the ship's side.
