Abstract: A demapping scheme, having a low computational cost, suitable for any transmission in which only exhaustive demapping can guarantee good performance. The scheme, proposed in this document, can be used in any transmission based on no differential modulation. For example the proposed scheme can be directly applied to a transmission on flat fading AWGN channels or to a transmission on frequency selective channels after equalization or on each sub-carrier of an OFDM System. The proposed solution can be applied for the demapping of any communication system. The proposed scheme can be used for rotated and un-rotated constellation.

  • Publication number: 20130097638
Abstract: This invention can re-direct the source of TV data, and shift the source from the Internet to a new set of source entities. This new entity can be a plurality of TV receivers. All TV data can be taken from a different source by adding, for example, one or multiple DVB receivers to the access point. Whenever the user requests a TV service, the data (e.g. TV program) is taken from that entity and not from the Internet. This reduces the aggregate data volume in the backhaul and the backbone network. There are new entities added to the access point from which a certain kind of data, namely TV, is obtained and forwarded to the user (consumer) with reduced bandwidth needs because of an embedded transcoder and with a local charging system.

  • Patent number: 8351526
Abstract: In an OFDM system using pilot cells for channel estimation, time interpolation among pilot cells of different OFDM symbols is commonly used to improve the estimate. The estimated channel impulse response is also windowed to further reduce noise and disturbances. However, for a transmission over a time-varying channel, suboptimal time interpolation, implemented with a filter having only a few taps not matched to the maximum Doppler frequency, degrades channel estimation. As aliases can lead to an erroneous estimate of channel duration and consequent errors in windowing, the present invention implements a technique to detect aliases and correct the estimate of channel duration. Parameters of the detection techniques are optimized by an analysis that provides closed-form expressions of the false alarm and miss detection probabilities.
