Abstract: The transformer has a bobbin, a coil assembly and a magnetic core assembly. The bobbin is mounted in the magnetic core assembly and has multiple connecting pins being formed on at least one side of a bottom surface of the bobbin. Each connecting pin has a top surface as a soldering surface that corresponds to a solder pad on a back of a circuit board. At least one fastener is further formed on the bottom surface of the circuit board. Therefore, when the transformer is mounted through the circuit board, the connecting pins are soldered on the back of the circuit board to reduce the total thickness of the combination of the transformer and the circuit board.

Abstract: A resonant circuit has two parallel resonant branches and one assistant inductor connecting the two resonant branches. Each resonant branch has a series capacitor and a series inductor connected in series. The other end of the series inductor is for connecting to a primary side of a transformer unit. The resonant circuit can provide two characteristic resonant frequencies fr and fm, so that a resonant power converter using the resonant circuit has an operating frequency fs that satisfies fs>fr or fm<fs<fr. The combination of the two resonant branches and the assistant inductor can reduce the frequency switch range of the resonant power converter within a specific voltage gain.

  • Publication number: 20090272514
Abstract: A power supply is mounted in a case for a computer and has a shell, a blower assembly and multiple electrical components. The shell has a rear surface, a heat sink chamber, an electrical component chamber, an air inlet and an air outlet. The chambers have front end communicating with each other. The air inlet and the air outlet are formed through the rear surface of the shell. The blower assembly is mounted in the shell and is adjacent to the rear surface of the shell. The electrical components are mounted in the electrical component chamber and generate heat when the computer operates. The heat-dissipating method of the power supply is to extract air from outside the computer case into the shell to dissipate the heat generated by the electrical components. Using air at room temperature from outside the case is much more efficient to cool down the power supply.

  • Publication number: 20090154594
Abstract: A power line communication device having DC power output and network signal transmission abilities has a casing, a power cable connector, a network signal converting circuit and a first connecting interface. The network signal converting circuit is connected to the power cable connector, sends and receives network signals over a power cable connected to the power cable connector and transforms an AC power source to a DC power source. The first connecting interface is connected to the network signal converting circuit for connecting to and exchanging the network signals with an external network device and has a network port and a DC power output port. The DC power output port outputs the DC power source from the network signal converting circuit to the external network device. Therefore, the first connecting interface is capable of outputting the DC power source and transmitting the network signals.

  • Publication number: 20090134921
Abstract: A slope compensation method and circuit for a peak current control mode power converter circuit is provided. Since the power converter circuit has a synchronous signal of a driven signal of enabling the first primary switch and the second primary switch, a triangular wave signal is generated. The driven signals of the first and second primary switches determine the ramp up time of the triangular wave signal. The triangular wave signal is added to one of the output DC voltage feedback signal of the corresponding power converter circuit that are used to compare with a current peak value of the voltage feedback signals. Therefore, a high level triangular wave DC voltage feedback signal that is higher than the DC voltage feedback signal is formed, and the switching noises do not effect comparing result of a PWM controller of the power converter circuit.

  • Publication number: 20090097286
Abstract: A hold-up time extension controlling device for a power supply, that has a power factor correction circuit, a hold-up time extension circuit, a hold-up time controlling circuit, a storage capacitor and a DC to DC converter. The hold-up time extension controlling device has a switch and an auxiliary capacitor. When an AC power source is normal, the switch is controlled to turn on according to the power factor correction circuit to make the auxiliary capacitor connecting to the storage capacitor in parallel to averagely have a ripple current. When the AC power source is interrupted, the switch is controlled to turn off. At the time, the hold-up time extension circuit obtains a storage power of the auxiliary capacitor and then output to the DC to DC converter to keep the voltage of the storage capacitor at a preset voltage for a long time.

  • Patent number: 7505291
Abstract: An AC/DC converter includes a rectifier circuit, at least one restraining unit, and a power interruption detection circuit. The rectifier circuit is used for converting an AC (alternating current) to a DC (direct current) power source. The restraining unit is connected to an output terminal of the AC power supply. The restraining unit includes a resistor and a switch connected in parallel. The power interruption detection circuit detects whether an input power cycle is regular. When the input power cycle is interruptive, a signal is generated to change a state of the switch in the restraining unit to make the resistor of the interfere in the circuit to restrain an inrush current in any operational circumstance, such as warm startup or quick startup.

  • Patent number: 7498921
Abstract: A transformer is to be electrically connected to a circuit board. The transformer has a bobbin, a copper sheet assembly and a coil assembly. The bobbin has two side plates and a winding core on which a primary winding, a secondary winding and a magnetic core assembly are mounted. The copper sheet assembly as the primary or the secondary winding has multiple copper sheets. Each copper sheet is an inverted U-shape with two legs, and is mounted on a groove defined on the winding core. Engaging structures formed on the copper sheets and the grooves steadily hold the copper sheet assembly on the winding core to prevent the copper sheets from shifting to incorrect positions. A conducting board below the bobbin connects the copper sheets in sequence. Since the loops formed by the copper sheets and the electrical connector are more nearly concentric, leakage inductance of the transformer will reduce.

Abstract: A power converter with synchronous rectifying through the control of a current transformer is disclosed. The basic architecture of the power converter includes a flyback transformer (10), a switch controller (20) and a current transformer (30). The secondary winding of the flyback transformer (10) is connected to the primary winding of the current transformer (30) used to control the switch controller (20). The primary winding of the current transformer (30) is connected to a synchronous rectifying switch (Q7). If a current change occurs on the secondary winding of the flyback transformer (10), the current transformer (30) detects the phase change and enables the switch controller (20) to switch off the synchronous rectifying switch (Q7). The current transformer (30) turns off the synchronous rectifying switch (Q7) anticipatorily in the continuous current output mode to prevent any power loss from crossovers.
