Patents Assigned to Accent Color Sciences, Inc.
  • Patent number: 6196662
Abstract: A print head has a plurality of linearly arranged, spaced apart print elements. The print head is positioned in a printing assembly at an angle to the process path of the print receiving documents. The angle of the print head is preselected whereby the distance between adjacent print elements in the direction orthogonal to the process direction is a preselected print resolution. The print head is then operated whereby the print elements fire multiple times as the document moves the preselected print resolution beneath the print head.

  • Patent number: 6072587
Abstract: A printing assembly has a moving web of print receiving material. A print positioning system has a coarse coordinate system and a fine coordinate system. Registration features on the web are used by a print positioning system to form the coarse coordinate system. The coarse coordinate system is employed to predict the location of the most recent registration feature. The fine coordinate system is re-synchronized to begin measuring from the location of the predicted registration feature.

  • Patent number: 5793397
Abstract: A hybrid printing system adds color accents to documents produced by high speed black on white printers using wax based inks. The color indicia is printed while the moving documents are supported against a curved surface and the documents are heated to an appropriate temperature for use of a wax based ink between black printing and color accent printing.

  • Patent number: 5729817
Abstract: An accent color printer for printing on a continuous web of material has spaced apart drums, and a flexible continuous belt positioned around the drums. The belt defines a transport path having an arcuate portion at one of the drums. A platen cooperates with the belt to define a curvilinear print region for said transport path. An input module positions a continuous web onto the moving belt. Print heads positioned adjacent the belt print accent colors onto the web at the print region. An outfeed module removes the web from the belt at arcuate portion of the transport path and tensions the removed web whereby the web forms a capstan wrap with the belt at the arcuate portion of the transport path. The capstan wrap results in the tension in the web at the printer region being increased from the tension in the web removed from the belt.

  • Patent number: 5602624
Abstract: A printer for adding accent colors to preprinted documents includes a transport which defines a curvilinear path along which the documents move during the printing of the accent colors thereon. The printing is accomplished through the use of multiple print heads which discharge wax based ink through multiple jets. The documents to which the accent colors are to be added are edge justified and then released in timed sequence to the curved transport path which leads through a printing zone defined by the print heads.
