Abstract: A water treatment system is provided with an untreated water reservoir having a cavity through which a filter assembly may traverse such that untreated water in the cavity passes through the filter assembly into a treated water reservoir. Traversal of the filter assembly may be facilitated by a pressure control assembly configured to generate a vacuum.

Abstract: A control system and associated methods for an air treatment system. In one aspect, the present invention provides a control system and method for controlling blower speed as a function of separately determined smoke and dust concentrations. In one embodiment, the control system and method provides a variable delayed between changes in motor speed to address undesirable rapid changes between speeds. In another aspect, the present invention provides a system and method for calibrating a sensor to provide more uniform operation over time. In yet another aspect, the present invention provide a system and method for calibrating motor speed to provide more consistent and uniform motor speed over time. The present invention also provides a system and method for tracking filter life by as a function of time, motor speed and/or a sensed variable, such as particulate concentration in the environment.

Abstract: A composition for treating skin pigmentation, a method of forming the composition, and a method of treating skin pigmentation are disclosed. The composition comprises at least one pharmaceutically acceptable additive. The composition further comprises at least one melanin production inhibitor, which may be a depigmentation agent. The melanin production inhibitor is present in an amount effective to inhibit melanin production in human skin cells of a subject that is administered the composition.
Abstract: Compositions for suppressing sebum production in skin (e.g., seborrheic skin), and minimizing glycation in skin (e.g., mature skin) with enhanced UV absorptive properties are described. In particular, the present invention relates to a composition containing a skin benefit agent that includes Lithospermum erythrorhizon. Also, methods of suppressing sebum production in skin (e.g., seborrheic skin) and minimizing glycation in skin (e.g., mature skin) by applying a composition to the skin, wherein the composition comprises an effective amount of a derivative of Lithospermum erythrorhizon are also described.

Abstract: An air treatment system having an improved control system. The control system may include a dynamic “dead front” display that varies the display based on mode of operation. The display may include capacitive touch sensors and include an array of capacitive film segments or traces integrated into the display. The control system may include a self-contained electronics module that can be tested and calibrated before installation in the ATS. A dust sensor assembly may be integrated into the electronics module. The front cover may be attached with a mechanical attachment at the top and a magnetic attachment on the bottom. The ATS may include a filter retainer assembly with a rotating clip configured to perform in a cam-like manner to firmly clamp the particulate filter and carbon filter in place.

Abstract: A portable water treatment system includes at least one sub-system to treat water including a flocculation system, a chlorination system, and a bio-sand filter system. The water treatment system may include multiple sub-systems for treating water that feed into one another. The sand filter system may include a mini bio-sand filter, a foam filter, or a pressed block filter. The flocculation system may include a tank bottom that urges settling particles toward a sump and a ladle that removes settled particles. A manual pump or siphon may be included in the water treatment system.

Abstract: A method useful for inhibiting moisture loss from skin comprises the step of administering a composition to a subject's skin. The composition comprises a first humectant and a second humectant different from the first humectant. The humectants are useful for increasing moisture content of the subject's skin, specifically the subject's epidermis. The first humectant may comprise a conventional humectant, e.g. glycerol. The second humectant generally comprises certain types of honey. The honey is capable of inhibiting moisture loss from the subject's epidermis and/or moisture loss from the first humectant when the subject is exposed to dry air conditions, e.g. wintertime air having a relative humidity of about 50% or less. Specifically, the second humectant is useful for mitigating adverse effects of the first humectant under certain conditions.
