  • Patent number: 6092577
Abstract: In an antiskid chain, a side holder has a closure for connecting the two free first and second ends of a shackle strand, each of which ends is provided with a thickened portion. The shackle strand can rest against the side of a vehicle tire and serves to fasten the running netting of the antiskid chain by means of fastening hooks. The closure is formed of a molded part which has a central, substantially plate-shaped portion, both of whose ends located opposite one another are bent toward the plate underside while forming an open, approximately cylindrical interior space. Tabs which are likewise bent downward from both longitudinal sides of the molded part are provided directly adjacent to the bend. Two tabs which are located opposite to one another are inclined approximately in a roof-shaped manner relative to one another in cross section. The molded part having a slit in the center in the longitudinal direction.

  • Patent number: 5920962
Abstract: In a clamping lock with a housing having a deflecting element for a tension chain which runs over it, wherein a pawl is provided which is swivelable between an open position and a locking position and is pretensioned against the deflecting element and has a projecting nose by which the tension chain can be locked in the direction opposite to the tensioning direction, and with a slot on the side of the housing which extends over the entire height of the housing, through which slot the tension chain is introduced into the housing and can be fitted on the deflecting element, the nose is constructed as a shaped nose which can be introduced into the intermediate space between two longitudinal sides of a chain link of the tension chain and which, with its nose surface located in front in the direction of the locking position, constitutes an extension, substantially in a straight line, of the outer surface of a pawl leg leading to the swivel pin of the pawl and is provided with a guide groove which is located in the

  • Patent number: 5082039
Abstract: An anti-skid chain for a vehicle tire comprises an inner and outer harness. The outer side harness comprises a closed loop harness line with elastic expansion members acting as a damping elements. A locking device is attached at one end of the harness line and a tensioning chain at the other end passes through the locking device, which permits movement of the tensioning chain for tensioning and prevents movement in the opposite direction. The inner side harness comprises a ring-shaped resilient stirrup which can be elastically spread apart for slipping across the tire tread. Closure members on the free ends of the stirrup lock the stirrup closed on release of the stirrup.

  • Patent number: 4665589
Abstract: A fastener for openable and closable side clips for antiskid chains for motor vehicle tires is provided, in which to each end of a side clip is fixed an end portion with a platelike body which, in the fitted state of the chain, is oriented substantially parallel to the side of the vehicle tire. There are further provided a hook and a hooking-in opening on each platelike body in such a way that the hook of one body can be brought into operative engagement with the hooking-in opening of the other body in the locking position. Each hook is constructed in the form of a tongue projecting from the plate-like body so as to slope counter to the closing direction.

  • Patent number: 4648434
Abstract: Antiskid device for motor vehicle tires with an inner fastening or mounting engaging with the inside of the tire and with an inner fastening or mounting for chain strand portions extending over the tire tread, in which in the fitted state, the inner fastening has an approximately circular construction and has a central fastening section, to each of whose two ends is swivellably fixed a side part by means of a swivel joint and for fitting the inner fastening, the side parts can be opened outwards from the central fastening section and are in each case pretensioned by means of a spring device in the direction of a closed form of the inner fastening. In order to further facilitate fitting, particularly in the case of narrow or confined wheel cases, it is provided that the central fastening section comprises at least two portions, which are interconnected in a swivellable manner relative to one another and are also pretensioned in the direction of a closed form of the inner fastening.

  • Patent number: 4588010
Abstract: An anti-skid device for motor vehicle tires is provided including front and rear holding devices, which lie against the inside and outside of the tire when the chain is mounted, and between which chain strand sections extend over the running surface of the tire. One of the holding devices which usually is the rear holding device in the mounted state, is essentially circular and has a rigid middle section and two rigid side sections, one end of each of which is attached by pivotal connections to an end of the middle section in such a way that it can be pivoted. Pretensioned spring devices are provided at the pivot connections to bias the side sections toward each other in the mounted condition after the rear holding device is passed over the tire with the side sections pivoted outwardly. Locking devices for securing the two ends of the side sections together in the mounted position are also provided.
