Abstract: The present invention relates to a punch for punching a workpiece. In particular, the invention relates to a punch including a base to stably support the punch and a support member configured to accommodate and locate the workpiece in a punching position. The support member is preferably movably connected to the base and preferably includes at least one punch member configured and operably associated with the support portion to punch the workpiece in the punching position upon an actuation movement of the support member with respect to the base. Another embodiment of the present invention relates to a punch having a paper tray oriented at an angle with respect to the base to support a sufficient portion of a sheet of paper to prevent an unsupported portion from falling over and withdrawing from the support portion. In particular, the paper tray and punch mechanism are oriented to expel paper chips such that the chips are visible to an operator as they are punched.

Abstract: A lock for securing an article on display includes a casing having a front opening and a hook contiguous to the front opening, with a locking body received in the casing. The locking body is formed with a bolt having a front lip that is movable out of the casing through the front opening. In addition, the locking body is designed so that the front lip of the bolt may be extended out of the casing and securely kept alongside the hook until the lock is opened.

Abstract: A stapler includes a base having a top surface, a bottom surface, and an anvil. The stapler further includes a paper guide coupled to the base and movable relative to the anvil between a first substantially locked and immovable position and a second substantially locked and immovable position, without requiring access to the bottom surface of the base. The paper guide includes a body portion supported on the top surface of the base, and a locking member coupled to the body portion and operable to substantially lock and unlock the body portion. The locking member is preferably a lever movable relative to the body portion and having a projection engageable with a ramped surface on one of the body portion or the base to lock the paper guide relative to the base.

Abstract: A staple forming mechanism having at least first and second configurations. The staple forming mechanism including a bend surface having a first surface width in the first configuration and a second surface width in the second configuration for forming staples having first and second crown sizes, respectively. The forming mechanism also includes at least two side portions spaced apart by a first former width in the first configuration and by a second former width in the second configuration. The side portions cooperate with the bend surface to form the staples. A stapler includes the forming mechanism and a driver including a driving surface having a first driver width in the first configuration and a second driver width in the second configuration for driving the staples of the first and second crown sizes into a stack of papers.

Abstract: An apparatus which inhibits the theft of equipment such as personal computers is disclosed. In a preferred embodiment, a locking interface for the specially designed slot includes two legs pivotably coupled together about an articulation point. The two legs each have opposing flanges on a first end and handles on a second end. The two legs define a first and a second position, with the flanges and legs adapted for insertion and removal when in the first position. The flanges engage an inner surface of the wall when the legs are in the second position. The preferred embodiment includes a retainer that is coupled to the handles of the first and second legs that retain the legs in the second position when the flanges engage the inner surface. In the preferred embodiment, the handles define an aperture and an object extends through the aperture to hold the legs in the second position. The object may be any suitable object, including a cable or shackle of a lock.

Abstract: The present invention provides a combined support and rotary storage apparatus for use with a display device, preferably a computer monitor. In one embodiment, the apparatus comprises a stand having a top and a first cylindrical tube extending downward from the top and having an axis. The apparatus further includes a carousel having a base and a second cylindrical tube extending upward from the base. The second cylindrical tube coaxially surrounds the first cylindrical tube. A base plate is coupleable to the first cylindrical tube. As such, the carousel is advantageously rotatable about the first cylindrical tube axis and on the base plate without touching a surface upon which the base plate and/or stand rest. The carousel may further include space dividers or storage compartments, which may be removable, having varying shapes and sizes.

Abstract: A folder includes a spine having a base and first and second spine hinge portions. The spine defines a longitudinal axis and has an exterior surface that is curved around the longitudinal axis. The folder also includes a first cover having a first cover hinge portion pivotably attached to the first spine hinge portion. The first cover has a first curved portion with an exterior surface that is curved around the longitudinal axis. The folder further includes a second cover having a second cover hinge portion pivotably attached to the second spine hinge portion. The second cover has a second curved portion with an exterior surface that is curved around the longitudinal axis. The spine and the first and second curved portions together define a generally rounded contour around the longitudinal axis when the folder is in a closed position.

Abstract: A stapler is provided that does not waste any staples when a staple cartridge or sheet of staples is replaced. The stapler includes a sheet of staples, a mounting unit equipped with a cartridge for housing the sheet of staples and a driver mechanism that draws out the sheet of staples from the cartridge. The mounting unit has a reverse motion stopping mechanism that prevents the sheet of staples from moving back into the cartridge. The reverse motion stopping mechanism makes contact with the sheet of staples when the mounting unit is installed and the reverse motion stopping mechanism releases contact with the sheet of staples when the mounting unit is removed.

Abstract: A stapler comprising a base, and a cartridge assembly coupled to the base. The cartridge assembly includes a magazine having a magazine housing with a dispensing opening and a rail positioned in the magazine housing. The rail is movable relative to the housing between a static position toward the opening and a retracted position away from the opening. A rail retractor is adapted to engage the rail and move the rail from the static position to the retracted position to facilitate removal of a jammed staple.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a portable easel having a frame and a display panel movably coupled to the frame. The panel is movable with respect to the frame in a longitudinal direction, and the panel is rotatable with respect to the frame from a first predetermined angular position to a second predetermined angular position.

Abstract: A cartridge is provided that reliably feeds staples even when the sheet of staples is completely unraveled. A shaft is established in the housing unit for the cartridge as a mechanism for forming a space. The shaft is not centered inside the round housing unit but is instead off-center. In other words, the shaft is located beneath the center line of the housing unit. Also, the shaft is located completely inside the hollow cavity formed by the rolled sheet of staples. As a result, the sheet of staples does not come into contact with the interior walls of the housing unit even when the rolled sheet of staples is unraveled.

Abstract: An ergonomic support is disclosed for use with a computer input device such as a mouse. Some embodiments allow the same support to be used with a wide range of mouse sizes. Some embodiments allow a user to make a customized fit between the user's hand, the support and the input device. Many embodiments include a deformable member which continues to apply force to the input device after being deformed by a user, thereby coupling the support to the input device without the need for external fasteners. In other embodiments, an attachment member couples the input device to a recessed area of the support.

Abstract: A stapler is provided that consistently remove only jammed staples from the stapler. Guide grooves are formed in a guide unit of a cartridge, and the guide grooves support a sheet of staples. Stoppers are formed on the edge of the walls of the guide unit to block the ends of the guide grooves. Release holes that open upwardly are formed in the guide grooves in front of the stoppers. Because a jammed staple protrudes from the release holes, the jammed staple can be pulled out from the release holes using the fingers. As a result, jammed staples can be effectively removed from the stapler.

Abstract: A stapler comprising a base defining a horizontal plane, a cartridge assembly coupled to the base at a cartridge attachment point, the cartridge assembly including a ram, and a lever arm pivotally coupled to the base at a lever pivot axis. The lever arm includes a grip at one end for receiving a manual input from a user, and the lever arm is coupled to the ram at a ram input in order to provide a drive force. The stapler includes an inherent force factor, calculated as the horizontal distance from the lever pivot axis to the end of the lever arm divided by the horizontal distance from the lever pivot axis to the ram input, of is at least 3.8. Preferably, the lever arm defines an effective lever axis that is at least about 65° offset from the ram axis when in the static position. When stapling, the effective lever axis is preferably greater than about 95° when the lever arm is compressed to the fully stapled position.

Abstract: A stapler assembly includes a base and a stapler coupled to the base. The stapler is movable with respect to the base between a first position, wherein the stapler has a first orientation with respect to the base, and a second position, wherein the stapler has a second orientation with respect to the base. The base preferably includes a holster configured to receive the stapler and is pivotable to move the stapler between the first and second positions. A cradle supports the holster. A detent mechanism between the cradle and the holster includes at least two detents corresponding with the first and second stapler positions. Preferably, the stapler is an electric stapler and the base includes an electrical conductor configured to conduct power from a power supply cord to the stapler when the stapler is received in the base.
