The heat map may indicate energy consumption in various areas of the floor plan. The floor map with the heat map may be a screen on the display. The energy consumption by each of the devices from the monitor may be calculated by the processor in time that each device is active and in a power rating of the respective device. The energy consumption by each of the devices may be converted by the processor into cost. From a screen, a user may define a virtual and dynamic zone to optimize and control the energy consumption.

    Abstract: A heat balancing system for a natural draft gas burning appliance having a flue. When the appliance is in a standby mode, a main burner is shut off and the pilot light remains on. Temperature in the heat exchanger (e.g., temperature of water in a heater tank) may be decreased or increased, respectively, by opening or closing a damper in a flue as needed. If opening the damper does not sufficiently reduce the temperature of the heat exchanger, then the pilot light may be shut off to further reduce the temperature. The pilot light may be turned on again to bring up the temperature. There may be a control or controller to operate the damper to maintain the temperature of the exchanger within a certain range. Electrical power may be provided for the system from a power line, a storage device, or other source.

The gas/air mixture is provided by a mixing device that mixes an air flow with a gas flow. The air flow is provided by a fan in such a way that the fan speed of the fan depends on a desired burner load. During burner-on-phases, the combustion quality is monitored on the basis of a signal provided by a combustion quality sensor. The defined mixing ratio of gas and air of the gas/air mixture can be calibrated on the basis of the signal provided by the combustion quality sensor.

The controller outputs a drive signal that causes the electric damper motor to drive the damper blade to the desired position and creates a plurality of interruptions in the drive signal while driving the damper blade. A sense circuit senses back EMF signal, and the controller estimates a blade position based at least in part on the back EMF signals.
