Patent number: 7436658Abstract: A pair of hard drives are slidably mounted upon a mounting displaced from an underlying printed circuit board secured to a base. The mounting includes a centrally located aperture beneath each hard drive to expose the underside of the hard drive to a cooling air flow flowing between the mounting and the printed circuit board. Rails, secured to the underside of each hard drive, slidably engage corresponding grooves in a respective section of the mounting and a locking bolt is used to secure a rail of the hard drive with the mounting. A ribbon cable having connectors at opposed ends interconnects each hard drive with the printed circuit board and the respective section of the mounting may include a tab to maintain the connector of the ribbon cable in engagement with a corresponding connector on the printed circuit board.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 2005Date of Patent: October 14, 2008Assignee: Adtron CorporationInventors: James A. Publication number: 20070271779Abstract: Each of one or more devices to be detachably attached to a mechanical substructure includes rails on opposed sides with insertion/extraction mechanisms. Each of a plurality of pairs of guides mounted on the substructure slidably receives and retains a respective set of rails upon attachment of the devices. The insertion/extraction mechanism includes one or more pivotable handles associated with each device for retaining the device with the substructure. A spring extending from a rail makes electrical contact with electrostatic discharge ground pads on the substructure to discharge existing static charge from the device prior to electrical engagement between an electrical connector on the device and an electrical connector on the substructure. An apertured plate of the substructure includes a plurality of apertures through which the devices are inserted/extracted.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 14, 2007Publication date: November 29, 2007Applicant: ADTRON CORPORATIONInventors: James Haager, Ronald Tupa, Daniel Fogelson
