  • Patent number: 7804319
Abstract: A method is provided for intentionally permanently disabling a target device. The target device comprises an integrated circuit having one or more electronic devices, where the target device is disabled by destroying at least one or more electronic devices. The method comprises charging at least one capacitor in an integrated circuit disabling device, detecting when at least one capacitor is charged, and selecting at least one target signal path associated with the target device for disabling. The method further includes connecting the integrated circuit disabling device to the target signal path and rapidly discharging at least one capacitor to the selected target signal path. • Patent number: 7436658
Abstract: A pair of hard drives are slidably mounted upon a mounting displaced from an underlying printed circuit board secured to a base. The mounting includes a centrally located aperture beneath each hard drive to expose the underside of the hard drive to a cooling air flow flowing between the mounting and the printed circuit board. Rails, secured to the underside of each hard drive, slidably engage corresponding grooves in a respective section of the mounting and a locking bolt is used to secure a rail of the hard drive with the mounting. A ribbon cable having connectors at opposed ends interconnects each hard drive with the printed circuit board and the respective section of the mounting may include a tab to maintain the connector of the ribbon cable in engagement with a corresponding connector on the printed circuit board.

  • Publication number: 20070271779
Abstract: Each of one or more devices to be detachably attached to a mechanical substructure includes rails on opposed sides with insertion/extraction mechanisms. Each of a plurality of pairs of guides mounted on the substructure slidably receives and retains a respective set of rails upon attachment of the devices. The insertion/extraction mechanism includes one or more pivotable handles associated with each device for retaining the device with the substructure. A spring extending from a rail makes electrical contact with electrostatic discharge ground pads on the substructure to discharge existing static charge from the device prior to electrical engagement between an electrical connector on the device and an electrical connector on the substructure. An apertured plate of the substructure includes a plurality of apertures through which the devices are inserted/extracted.

  • Patent number: 6918177
Abstract: A device to be detachably attached to a mechanical substructure includes rails on opposed sides joined at the front by a cross member. A pair of guides mounted on the substructure slidably receives and retains the rails upon attachment of the device. An alignment pin extending from a rail mates with a hole in one of the guides to insure alignment of an electrical connector of the device with an electrical connector mounted on the substructure. The cross member includes screws for securing the cross member to the substructure. A spring extending from a rail makes electrical contact with an adjacent guide and an electrostatic discharge contact plate to discharge any existing static charge.
