Abstract: A waste management system for associating a collected refuse bin with a corresponding user of that bin. The system comprises a GPS tracker unit on-board a collection vehicle for recording the GPS co-ordinates of each refuse bin during refuse collection therefrom by the collection vehicle. A central server is configured for communication with each of a plurality of collection vehicles so that the GPS co-ordinates of each refuse bin collected during a refuse collection may be communicated to the central server. The server is further configured to effect a datastore lookup for comparing the GPS co-ordinates of the collected refuse bins with pre-recorded geographical data of a plurality of users for associating each refuse bin to a corresponding user.

Abstract: A weight measurement system for accurately determining the weight of material in a container being lifted. The system includes a hydraulic system comprising a mechanical lift arm for lifting and emptying a container, a dampener operable on the hydraulic system for reducing and minimising oscillations of the hydraulic system during operation of the mechanical arm, a weight transducer based weighing system for weighing the container during at least one of a lift and after being emptied and to provide an output indicative of each weighing during periods of dampening of the mechanical lift arm, and a processor configured to use at least the outputs of the weighing system to provide a weight of the material in the container.

Abstract: A method of quickly and accurately associating a customer name and address with a unique RFID identification tag to be used on a waste or recyclable materials container by the customer. A self-adhesive RFID label including an embedded RFID identification tag is provided in an envelope. Using a hand-held RFID tag reader or more preferably, an RFID reader mounted in a printer coupled to a computer device, a customer name and address is selected from a database and printed on an envelope or directly on the RFID label. Using the RFID reader in the printer and while the customer name and address is being printed, the unique RFID identification number from the RFID identification tag is read, provided to the computer device and automatically inserted into the customer database record, thereby associating the unique RFID identification tag number with the customer record.
