Patent number: 6227888Abstract: An interchangeable plug device includes an electrical plug detachably mountable to a casing and movable between a detached and an operative position relative to the casing, and a releasable locking mechanism integral with the electrical plug to maintain the plug in an operative position. The locking mechanism can be released by a user to allow the plug to be moved to the detached position. A preferred form of locking mechanism is a depressible lock bar connected to or integral with an electrical plug body, which is designed to engage a detent in a casing. A preferred form of electrical connection between the plug and any casing comprises a submerged pin and sleeve configuration to protect the user or passerby from electric shock if the plug is detached from its operative position but remains a source of live current. A variety of interchangeable electrical plugs can preferably be fitted to the same casing.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 1997Date of Patent: May 8, 2001Assignee: Advanced Mobile Solutions, Inc.Inventor: Stan S. Patent number: 6193558Abstract: A cigarette lighter adapter formed from two complementary members that form a cylindrically shaped housing having an axial end with an annular recess, and a ring that fits within the annular recess and secures the two complementary portions together. The ring is configured to fit entirely within the annular recess and to fill the recess completely, making removal without destroying the ring or the housing virtually impossible. Preferably, the ring is configured to snap fit into the annular recess. Additional means for securing the two members may also be provided, preferably at a location removed from the first axial end.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 1997Date of Patent: February 27, 2001Assignee: Advanced Mobile Solutions, Inc.Inventor: Sung Ook Yang

Patent number: 6027828Abstract: A modular, stackable battery pack and electronic accessory system which allows one or more batteries to simultaneously power one or more electronic accessories. The battery packs and accessories each have two opposing faces which are configured to releasable mate with each other and to provide electrical connection between the components. In some embodiments, the accessory is configured to be one of the terminal ends of the system, and thus has only one face with a releasable connector. The other face may be reserved for operation of the accessory. In other embodiments, the battery packs themselves may also comprise an electronic accessory. Accessories suitable in the practice of this invention include a cellular telephone, a PDA, a pager, a personal stereo (AM/FM radio or cassette, DAT or CD player), a calculator, an alarm clock, an electronic address book, a shaver, a solar powered battery pack recharger, a voice memo recorder, a tazer or a flashlight.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1997Date of Patent: February 22, 2000Assignee: Advanced Mobile Solutions, Inc.Inventor: Stan S. Patent number: 5973948Abstract: A universal linear power supply capable of automatically supplying a regulated DC current output from a range of AC input. In one preferred embodiment, interchangeable modular electrical plugs configured to mate with standard AC supplies releasably connect with the power supply. The power supply circuitry comprises a two-winding step-down transformer, a rectifier and a DC/DC step-down buck converter. A projection on selected electrical plugs mechanically engages a switch on the power supply, connecting the primary coils of the transformer either in series or in parallel to accommodate 110 VAC or 220 VAC input. In another preferred embodiment, the invention comprises an electrical plug for accessing VAC input connected, releasably or permanently, to a power supply comprising a linear transformer, a full-wave rectifier and a DC/DC step-down forward converter which is capable of accommodating the full range of standard AC voltage.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1997Date of Patent: October 26, 1999Assignee: Advanced Mobile Solutions, Inc.Inventors: Stan S. Patent number: 5959434Abstract: A battery charger having multiple charging stations that automatically supplies charging current to one of the stations depending on which battery is inserted. The charger has electrical contacts that mate with the charging contacts of the primary battery and are movable between a first position and a second position. When in the second position, the charging circuitry delivers current to the primary battery and when in the first position, delivers current to an auxiliary battery.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1997Date of Patent: September 28, 1999Assignee: Advanced Mobile Solutions, Inc.Inventors: Chan Heung Park, Sung Kee Baek
