Abstract: A trackway for a personal rapid transport systems which comprises track members formed of preformed grid-like structures. The preformed grid-like structures may be formed of fiber reinforced plastic or the like.
Abstract: A method for controlling movement of a body within a system comprises: a) selecting a path for the body between a first node (B) and a second node (C), b) determining a desired movement envelope (20) for the body along the path that does not conflict with the movement envelope (23, 25) of any other body of the system, c) communicating the path and the start time of the desired movement envelope to the body, and d) causing the body to begin travelling over the selected path at the start time.
Abstract: A vehicle guidance system for directing a vehicle along a predetermined path comprises an onboard computer, a number of distance sensors and a steering system controllable by the computer. The predetermined path is stored in a memory of the computer and, in operation, the steering system is controlled to follow the predetermined path. The sensors are adapted to measure the distance, laterally of the vehicle travel direction, between the sensors and curbs provided along the predetermined path, and the computer is adapted to control the steering system to correct any lateral deviation from the predetermined path as detected by the sensors.
Abstract: A door (6), for example in a vehicle, is mounted at one edge (8) for acurate movement about the axis of a shaft (16), and at the other edge (10) for displacement substantially in the plane of the door opening along rails (26, 28). Thus, on opening, the edge (8) swings outwards from the door opening before moving longitudinally away from the door opening, with the edge (10) being guided along the rails (26 and 28).
