Patent number: 4506339Abstract: An apparatus for measuring and monitoring the angular velocity of the shaft of a rotating machine. In this apparatus, a plurality of sensors is positioned adjacent the shaft of the rotating machine for generating sequential pulses with periods proportional to the angular velocity of the shaft. The pulses are generated at intervals such that, during the period between adjacent pulses from one sensor, pulses are generated by each of the other sensors. An oscillator is provided for generating reference pulses at a predetermined pulse repetition rate, and a plurality of counting devices are coupled to respective sensors and to the output of the oscillator for counting the pulses generated by the oscillator. An averaging and reciprocal circuit is coupled to the output terminals of the counting devices for obtaining the average of the counting device outputs and then generating the reciprocal of the average value.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1982Date of Patent: March 19, 1985Assignee: AEG-Kanis Turbinenfabrik GmbHInventor: Klaus Kuhnlein

Patent number: 4189813Abstract: A series of standardized components from which can be assembled a single stage geared turbine having any one of a large number of combinations of output power and gear rotation rate, the components including a plurality of rotor wheels having respectively different wheel pitch diameters, a plurality of steam delivery nozzle sets for each rotor wheel, a plurality of turbine casings each dimensioned to correspond to a respective wheel pitch diameter, a plurality of gear casings each dimensioned to correspond to a repectively different value for the spacing between the axis of a pinion and a gear, and a plurality of pinions having respectively different diameters, any gear casing being connectable to any turbine casing, the turbine casing employed for the turbine to be assembled being selected on the basis of the rotor wheel which has been selected, and the gear casing which is to be employed in the turbine being selected on the basis of the distance between the axes of rotation of the selected pinion and the ouType: GrantFiled: June 6, 1977Date of Patent: February 26, 1980Assignee: AEG-Kanis Turbinenfabrik GmbHInventors: Gerd Ostermann, Erwin Stiegler, Erich Schliermann, Peter Hirsch

Patent number: 4030296Abstract: A device for rotating a turbine, particularly during starting, comprises a positive displacement-type main oil pump which has a main pump suction which is connected to the discharge of a high pressure oil pump which also has a connection to supply oil to the bearings. An auxiliary oil pump is mechanically coupled to the high pressure pump and it is also hydraulically connected in series to the high pressure pump. When the pressure builds up between the high pressure pump and the main pump, the main pump may be driven as a motor by the high pressure pump to effect a turning of the turbine.Type: GrantFiled: April 8, 1976Date of Patent: June 21, 1977Assignee: AEG-Kanis Turbinenfabrik GmbHInventor: Hans Deinlein-Kalb

Patent number: 4026327Abstract: A rapid opening valve assembly has a housing in which there is positioned a cylinder body slidably receiving, in a cylinder chamber, a valve piston which maintains the valve assembly in an open or closed state. The valve piston has an axial extension which constitutes a spindle and which is received in a spindle chamber formed in the cylinder body. The valve piston is urged into the closed position by a spring, the force of which is opposed by the pressure in the high pressure side of the valve assembly, seeking to move the valve piston away from its seat. In the valve piston there is provided a servochamber which receives a slidable servopiston cooperating with a servovalve seat also carried by the valve piston. The servopiston is urged against its seat by a servospring, the force of which is opposed by the cylinder chamber pressure admitted to an end face of the servopiston through a channel provided in the valve piston.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1975Date of Patent: May 31, 1977Assignee: AEG-Kanis Turbinenfabrik GmbHInventor: Hans Deinlein-Kalb

Patent number: 4019713Abstract: A rapid shutoff extraction check valve has a movable valve body cooperating with a valve seat that divides a valve housing into an upstream housing chamber communicating with the valve inlet and a downstream housing chamber communicating with the valve outlet. The movable valve body is displaceably supported by an actuating piston which is slidably received in a guide cylinder enclosing a pressure chamber. The actuating piston has a radial face exposed to pressure in the downstream housing chamber. An auxiliary valve forming part of the rapid shutoff check valve has a first position in which communication is maintained between one housing chamber and the pressure chamber and a second position in which the pressure chamber is vented. In the first position of the auxiliary valve the actuating piston exerts a closing force on the movable valve body.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1975Date of Patent: April 26, 1977Assignee: AEG-Kanis Turbinenfabrik GmbHInventor: Hans Deinlein-Kalb

Patent number: 3973591Abstract: A valve particularly for controlling the admission of fluid to sectional nozzles of a turbine has a slidable valve sleeve provided with a control face. The valve sleeve is surrounded by a stack of valve rings fixedly held in the sequentially housing. Each valve ring has a circumferentially extending axial extension with which it engages an adjoining valve ring of the stack. Each axial extension has at least one discontinuity to define a port between any two valve rings. Ports associated with different valve rings communicate with different nozzle sections. As the valve sleeve is moved in one direction, its control face equentially opens the valve ports associated with the different nozzle sections.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 1974Date of Patent: August 10, 1976Assignee: AEG-Kanis Turbinenfabrik GmbHInventor: Hans Kalb
